I would like your opinions on what's your favorite from either brand or both because I need to go on a makeup shopping spree on a budget...:-)

Well I love the NXY jumbo Eye Pencils I use them as a base for my eyeshadow really brings out the color more especially the one in Milk a must have, I also own some of NXY's liqued liners one in black and two other one in a gold glitter type and the one in a black with gold flecks, oh and there Matte Lipstick are AMAZING easily compatible to high end lipstick staying power and color payoff so definitely check those out. I have also heard there blushes are nice I don't own any but heard good things. the only thing I own from Elf are some makeup brushes so not much help there.

Nyx has some amazing products that to me work as good as high end products. They're hd studio foundation and powder foundation are must haves! I always use elfs mineral serum primer before the nyx foundation and nyxs pore filler before too it's seriously amazing! I love elfs powder brush for applying foundation and powder and even to contour or add color to your face - I have three or more of these brushes and for 3$ it's well worth it. I also love the other elf studio brushes for shadow they work really really good- and I love they're all black packaging- plus they're around $3-6 for each one! I would also suggest NYX's face art waterproof khol pencil eyeliner in 07 jet black its perfect and comparable to the too faced waterproof stay all day liner that's 22$ and nyx is 5-6$ I think. The color 07 is jet black and it's seriously so perfect for tight lining and will stay in your water line all day- they also have a lot of other good colors, white brown green etc- I love nyxs matte lipsticks too my favorite colors are nude, hippie chic, Audrey, and pale pink all of those colors are very natural and pale or beige pinks for the perfect nude lip if that's what you like. Nyx lip liner- my favorite is dolly pink is such a bright Barbie pink and is so creamy and stays on so long that I've used it as all over base lip color! The only thing I wouldn't recommend from elf is the setting spray and the only reason is that it doesn't smell good at all it is 3$ and does work- if you can get past the smell. I have it and much rather prefer model in a bottle setting spray which was 14$ online rather than the 30$ in stores, as for nyx... This is my favorite brand ever- so I love and have everything and the only thing I've taken back is the creme glitter palete I bought a few of them thinking it would be awesome for eyeshadow and it even says on the package it's not for eyes at all which I really didn't know and there's only glitter on the first layer and was extremely hard to apply it was like petroleum jelly with glitter it didn't stay on my skin, but on the brush, idk I just was really disappointed. Also a must have from nyxs is the concealer in a jar, you get so much product so it really does last and you can apply it a few different ways bc it's in a jar (which I personally like)- but the best thing is that it does not look Cakey or crease! And that's so hard to find with concealers! The roll on eye shimmer works really well too for sparkle and pigment without using a loose glitter btw I had to add this in because I was really skeptical of it being in a rollerball but it works so well!
Hope this helps! I also attached a picture of the Matte lipsticks from left to right are nude, hippie chic, and pale pink!( & They're 6$ at ulta!)

Here are some of the brushes I was talking about above, these are mine sorry if they're a little dirty but I wanted you to see the names of them I think these are must have brushes two of the powder brushes one for foundation &one for powder/contouring, I use the blush brush for contouring and blush and the smudge brush for your crease and packing on color on your lid, and I use the small Angled brush for concealer and cutting out/defining my brows (making them more defined and cleaning them up)
Also what I just wanted to tell you too is that the elf contouring brush&bronzer in st. Lucia is a complete dupe for nars orgasm and Laguna- and they're gorgeous colors with really great pigment for $3!!

I like both brands but bux is definetly on a higher level in terms of quality, I love their waterproof concealer.and their stay.matte.not flat foundation, and their matte shadows. e.l.f has some decent makeup brushes for the price.

So far I've collected a few pigments, eyeliner pencils/glitterliner and their eyeshadowbase... I'm such,a fond of the last one and their pigments!! The eyeshadowbase (I own the white version) really helps to stick the eyeshadow and let it stay for way longer than without a base.. I have hooded eyes so they dont stay all day but atleast 6 hours..
Haven't tried the eye pencils and glitter liner yet because I own them for just a couple days lol..
NYX isn't very easy to get for me (I'm Dutch) and we don't really have a store where you can buy all the.products unfortunatly,, only online so far!! I'm a fan atleast plus NYX is.cruelty free!!
