I've recently found that I love BB cream, but is foundation a better choice?

Doesn't cause breakouts as much, doesn't clog your pores. Try olay bb cream or maybelline bb cream.

It really depends on your skin. Foundation is more heavy but requires strong coverage. BB Cream is light and also moisturizes but doesn't provide great coverage.

It depends what you're going for. depends on your skin, depends how much coverage you need , it depends on a LOT. for ME, I rarely use foundation. I use bb cream, concealer, and powder. I have good skin with no acne. I just want to even my skintone a bit with makeup, so I only need something light for that.

Those are two different things. If you want strong coverage go for a foundation. Bb creams are great because thy moisturize your skin and serves as an anti ageing agent too. I personally wear Bb cream on a daily basis and foundation for a dressier occasion. :)
