I have wavy hair, but want it straight without having to straighten it every morning so I was considering getting a straightening perm. What are the pros and cons of getting one? And how much do they cost?

One thing you should consider is that a relaxer (aka straightening perm, basically) cannot be undone. The hair you straighten will never be able to be permed back to wavy. And although you can curl and wave it with heat, it's a lot of work and can be hard to make look natural. Also, most people who have relaxed hair still straighten it a little. Also consider the condition of your hair. Is it at all damaged? Texture changes are damaging to the hair and should be taken seriously!

A perm can make your hair thin and something fall out, it's better to just go to a salon and do rollers than have it blow dried and wrap it at night it last longer and you won't have to straighten it

In black culture straightening perm is the norm. It's very damaging and like Michelle stated it can't be undone. After years and years of using it, I realize it's the worst thing to put in your hair. Have you ever thought about blow drying your hair straight (after a wash) and then wrapping it at night. Wrapping is what black and hispanic women do with our hair to keep it looking nice til the next wash. Wrapping it will keep it straight.
