How do I keep my nails from chipping so quickly?

I always do really fancy/time-consuming nail art on my nails, but they chip within the next two days or sooner and I feel like its such a waste. Do you know of anything I can do to stop this?

Make sure to apply base coat and top coat that specifically help with chipping nails
