First of all, I despise my hair and always have. It's coarse and wavy and never straightens. In all my efforts of having a straight look and ombre my hair is destroyed. Basically every day is a bad hair day.

Any suggestions on products/techniques to tame this wildness?

You should buy some Moroccan oil, it may be expensive but its worth it!

Try this twice a week:
take two egg yolks and add curds to it. mix well and apply it to your scalp and hair. Keep it for about 2 hours, wash off! see if it feels soft.
you can also try, taking mashed banana and keep it in your hair for an hour or so. its really effective! check and let me know. :)

Put some oil (coconut, olive, argan..) in your hair after towel drying. Oil helps my hair a lot :)

My hair is thick and coarse as well. I bought a HAI elite flat iron after trying drug store brands as well as high end brands. I have had it almost 7 years and it works perfectly fine as id I just bought it yesterday. :) other flat irons never lasted me more than 2 yrs even though I take care of my stuff. It leaves My hair pin straight and the heat is adjustable in 2° increments. I will never buy a different brand of flat irons. Lol. Mayonnaise helps soften the hair. I apply it from root to tips and leave it in for approx 30 min then shampoo and condition. It feels soo silky afterwards!!

I dont see why you couldnt ombre it just cause its not straight... my hair isnt course but I'd still reccomend aussies 3 min miracle cure, I've only used it for long hair but it leaves my hair super soft (almost too soft).

Why not try once aweek of olive oil and mayonise it will make your hair healthy to much ceramic will be more not good.

My hair is also like that more or less. Avocado oil is good for coarse hair it's full of vitamins for your hair and it helps seal in moisture

I use Garnier Fructise Triple Nutrition Shampoo and Conditioner and let me tell you, it works wonders...I also use Regis Designline Silk Drops...you only use a pea size amount and it softens and tames even the most coarse and frizzy hair...the Garnier Fructise shampoo and conditioner you can get at walmart for less than $10 together and the silk drops you can go to any Regis salon (as long as you're in walmart there should be a Smart Style there and they're part of the Regis Corporation) The silk drops are about $10 but if you're a college student or if you have a military id card you can get a discount just by showing your college id or military id.
