I have tried mousse and it doesn't work and goes flat again in like an hour. Big curling iron doesn't work well either and just flattens out.

Try putting your hair in two braids while your hair is still wet and sleep in them. In the AM, take a flattening iron and softly run over the braids. Undo the braids, you should have soft, wavy locks. If you need help with holding, I really love Fekkais hairspray- it holds while keeping hair soft and touchable.

While your hair is wet, blow dry it upside down (the entire time) with a diffuser, scrunching the hair into is up towards your scalp as you go, and massaging your scalp with the diffuser. When it is about 80% dry spray a beach spray and finish blow drying it (: perfect beach waves!
