As long as you are moving and eating healthy and well balanced you will lose weight. Zumba is fun and lots of movement. Win win.

Try cardio excersizes at the gym, also some dancing lessons can help losing weight - salsa and oriental dances are good options. Eat healthier and less, walk more and drink a lot of water.

well I used to do Zumba until my teacher once explained that the first hour of your exercise, doesn't brun your fat. your body starts burning fat after 1 hour.my zumba classes were only an hour long so I decided to also use the crosstrainer for an hour. its really exhausting but totally worth it. I really lost some weight by doing that. but dont get me wrong after doing zumba I always feel like I lost 10 pounds especially when I see the amount of sweat lol

You can lose weight at many ways. At first is important to look, how and what you eat. Its important to eat often. Every 2 houre. Its like "breakfast" after two houre an apple, after another houre ore two some yoghurt, then lunch, and so on. people who eat less acctualy gain weight. The body will keep all the fat from the food, in case you will even eat less. Its normale. So eating small portions but often helps. there is also a different at "fat" and "callories". In oure sleep we burn fat, during exsercise we burn calories. So enough sleep is also important. There are many ways to lose callories. Even cleaning youre house you burn calories. Try to do more by walking ore biking, that can do a huge different. There is yoga,fitniss,crossfit,cardio and so on. If you do cardio like jogging ore biking you will burn a good ammount of calories at that time, but you dont burn after. With fitniss you burn not much at the moment, but you can keep burning calories for two days. Dont forget that muscle's are heavyer then fat. So if you start working out, you lose fat,but you building some muscles. i always weight 53kilo, and now 58. But dont worry, you wont get a male body, but a sexy body.
To the zumba lesson, YES you will lose weight, aslong you dance with energy :) you really have to move that butt!. if you do zumba like its supposed to be, its possible you will build some muscles in youre hips, legs.
I am so sorry for my bad english and long story. I go to the gym 3 times a week. Which i do fitniss, cardio and more. I did some trainings about body and moving, so i know what i am talkimg about. :) good luck with the zumba! Go.for it. (even a walk for 30 min you can lose 10/15 cal, so zumba will do muchhhh more)

Whether or not you want to lose weight you MUST exercise!!!
Every individual should get at least 150 mins of exercise broken up over the course of a week. It's a health practice which is shamefully lost from our generation.
And of course, you should find ways to be physically active which excite you and motivate you to continue and do well! (Zumba being a personal fave!)

If you are scared of losing weight by exercising, you can more tahn easily replenish your day's calories with a chocolate bar :)

thanks you all ! but now i'm.worried about what nairy said....well i have one hour of zumba too, two days per week.... i'm eating less and healthy too.. i really move a lot in the class and i do all the steps and everything... well... anyways i'm going to keep trying with Zumba hope it works lol :) PD: sorry for my terrible english, i don't speak this language ..i'm from Chile :)

My english is bad also, I am from the netherlands. we dont know what the teachet acctualy said to nairy, but you absolutly will burn calories during a houre zumba. Even walking to the front door is burning some callories. Not mutch tho. People who have a active job, and does everything by walking dont even need to go do extra excersizes. :) zo doing a houre zumba is a perfect way of excersize. zumba is good for keeping in shape. it also takes time to lose weight when youre weight is just a bit to much. A person who weights 150 kilo, will lose weight way quicker then a person who weight 70 kilo.

It is true that noticeable fat "burn" is only achieved after about an hour of strenuous exercise because our bodies were designed to be active. Fat stores are for emergencies, when there isn't enough food. Our bodies aren't meant for the lazy, plentiful lives we live as modern humans, we were "designed" to run and chase and other mammal things. But that doesn't mean that working out for less than an hour is worthless! It just means that you should make sure you extend your activity longer if you want faster, more significant fat burn.

It's also true that exercise can make you weigh more. I've been going to the gym 3+ times a week and I've only gained weight in muscle mass. It's disappointing, but you can't let the numbers ruin your enthusiasm!

I've done Zumba, and I loved it! Dance is a great way to have fun while staying active. Anything you can do to get your heart going is healthy!

And Desini was right, just cutting down food will not help you be healthy. Remember, we're animals, and our bodies don't know that we have enough food. If you starve yourself, your body will get scared and go into "starvation mode" and make more fat. You should be eating smaller amounts more often during the day to keep your metabolism going. And you don't have to eat LESS food, just trade fatty, processed low-vitamin and mineral food for fruits and veggies and other delicious, fresh things. Always read the nutrition labels.

And don't worry about your English! I studied abroad in Austria and I was always nervous about my German. You sound just fine.  :)
