has anyone ever gone to Macy's, Sephora, Ulta, etc and asked for samples? how do you ask? what have they told you?

i want to ask for samples only because i want to test a product before i buy it, you know? not to freeload lOl.

I have been to all of them. Ulta seems to always be 'out of sample containers'. Otherwise, I've been given what I've asked for with no problems whatsoever. Just ask! They understand the concept of wanting to sample prior to purchasing.

I just tell the Sephora people that I would like a sample of -insert product here- and they give it to me. I read somewhere they can only give up to three samples per person. I've gotten a happy "sure!" most of the time but one woman did eye roll at me, hahahaha. Needless to say, I don't see her anymore.

thanks girls ♡!! @Gen i was thinking of asking like that so they dont think im freeloading. i genuinely wanna try before i buy lOl that stuff is not cheap. i'm gonna give it a try this weekend.

The Sephora at the mall here won't give samples, but Ulta will. Not sure why Sephora doesn't, since it seems that all of the other ones in other places do. :/

I never thought of asking people at Ulta... I will defintely do that! However, whenever I go into Sephora, I always ask for samples and tell them that I am interested but would like to test how my skin reacts to it. They are understanding! :)

I went to Macy's a few years ago and there was this lady behind the Juicy Couture counter and she told me,my mom,and my sister about the perfume and gave us samples for it,just for listening. It was a nice little tube too. I never asked though,but if you just stop and listen when they offer to tell you about a product,have ears wide open,maybe youll get a sample out of it.

Once someone got aggravated with me for requesting a sample...so I told her "stop rolling your eyes...I could make this much harder on you by buying the product and then storming in here demanding my money back because I wasn't satisfied...then you'd have to call your manager and it turns into a big ordeal...so really making me a sample is the easier route to take don't you think?" And she has never once gotten snippy with me again

I work at Macy's and we only give samples of foundations when we match you. Sephora will give you samples but only 2-3, Ulta same thing
