Haha, 'dont shower'! Of course you still need to shower, just avoid wetting the dreads for the first few weeks, your best bet is finding a professional to so it for you. If you see someone with dreads, ask them how they did it, they might be able to give you someones number.

take the bunch of hair and comb backward with a wide comb ... if you spray a little salt water it will help the dread hold. then just roll the dread back and forth in your palms to push the tiny hairs in place

Coming from a place where LOTS of people have this brilliant idea.. I'd recommend a professional. I think dreads that are even and well taken care of are lovely..but do it wrong and it's a hot mess :/ wouldn't want to lose all your hair or some ridiculous thing. Post a pic if you go through with it!

You can roll the hair In between your fingers. Keep rolling and apply some heat protectant and take a flat iron and smooth down the rolled hair clamp it on each price of hair and spray with hairspray

To the people saying "Don't shower". You're idiots.
I would recommend finding a salon that does them, or ever tutorials on YouTube. Yes, ill taken care of dreads can be dirty, but with proper maintenance they can be very nice!

Be gentle when back combing! If you damage your hair too much while putting them in, you will lose a lot of hair. Also, sea salt spray is your friend. Do NOT use wax. Listen to the other chicks and find a reputable site with video tutorials for instruction. And also, they are near impossible to get out once properly put in - I'd recommend trying on a quality wig (find em on Etsy or FB groups) just to make 100% sure you like the way it looks on you before taking the plunge. Once you have them, tea tree oil will help you go longer time periods without drenching your head. You can get your hair wet, I just wouldn't recommend every day (or every other day, for that matter). Hope I could help! I've put dreads in many heads :) Good luck!

Go to a professional!!!!! Dreading yourself can look really bad uneven and can cause you're hair to break off at the scalp
