I would love to have long, natural nails, but after a certain point my nails start to peel off in layers, and they don't last ling after that. Does anyone have tried and true remedies for this?

Same here. My doctor told me it was because I didn't have enough iron in my system (anemia). There are nail strengtheners out there that really do the trick. OPI!

Get a blood test to hunt for vitamin deficiency, hormones, or thyroid problems. My dr says the condition of ones nails reflects the condition of the body. You can take a skin hair nail vitamin if you can't afford the bloodwork and see if that helps. Keep your nails dry. Wet nails are hard to grow.

Use a cuticle oil. Because the nail grows from the cuticle when that is nourished the nail will be nourished. Oil will also give your nails flexibility so if you hit them they will not just chip and break.
Also nailtiques formula 2 is an amazing nail strengthener. It's designed for people that have worn artificial nails to help strengthen them.
Hope this helps!!

My nails has done that in the past and one of them has done it recently. If they are all bad I prefer you to cut all of them down low to the same length. Start fresh.

Dont file!!! It tends to make the nails even weirder. Always clip.

I have started using Hard As Hoofs brand of nail strengthener. It is sold at Walmart. It did wonders for my nails and it's cheap too

I'm gonna have to try something. I'm tired of having short nails. and I don't like the damage fake nails do.
