if you decide to cut it only do an inch or two at a time, that way you can get a better idea of how it will look instead of chopping it all at once.

I like long! But if you do want it shorter just get it cut a couple inches at a time! That way if it gets too short and you don't like it you haven't cut all of it off yet!

Keep it long! But if you want to do something crazy maybe add some crazy layers or go like a dark red! I think that would be awesome!
