True!!! I've done this multiple times! It does lighten your hair if you don't rub it in well. I also use to use this to lighten my slightly growing roots when I had blonde hair.

How should I apply the baby powder?

You just shake a little on your roots and brush until you can't see it and the oil is absorbed. If you have darker hair you can use baking cocoa powder too :)

Talc isn't too healthy if you inhale... I think it's actually carcinogenic like asbestos. So if you must sprinkle it on hair, please be careful. There are natural alternatives like tapioca powder, rice powder, cornstarch. Johnson's Lavender& chamomile is made from cornstarch. I'd avoid regular baby powder made with talc.

Rather than baby powder, use cornflour.

Have you tried dry shampoo? It's a spray that, like baby powder, absorbs excess oil and adds volume. All you do it spray it directly onto your roots! The best brand for me is Batiste; they have loads of different fragrances and even make them for coloured hair (as the normal one can make your hair a bit white). I started using it because I dye my hair red and washing it everyday makes the colour fade faster... I can't live without it now!!

I use batiste aswell. cant live without it. you can get it in supermarkets and chemists (in ireland) and they do a few different types. I use the one for brunettes, its a brown colour so doesnt lighten your roots too much but as always make sure its brushed in properly

I usually buy mine in Tesco, but other places like Boots and Superdrug sell it too. I'm sure you could buy it online as well, but I've never looked... As a tip, I use my brush to pick up a small amount of hair at the top (I find it easier with a round brush) and spray the roots from underneath. That way, if you overdo it, the white patch is underneath and it's a lot easier to blend it. Plus it give you more volume!!
