What are "beach" hairsprays suppose to do?

I know this may seem like a really dumb question but I was wondering what do beach hairsprays do to your hair, like when you use them what style of hair are you trying to achieve? Thanks!

a good one will give you "beach waves" kinda just messy, beachy looking hair.. lol.. some just make your hair sticky and  gross.

They are meant to bring out natural looking texture and volume!

But they can strip out color! So if you have brand new or Demi-permant color on your head I would not recommend using it if you plan to be be outside all day!
