I have a very bad habit of washing my hair everyday, because I have very oily hair. I was told to use dry shampoo in between days. My question is, is using dry shampoo really any better? Because dry shampoo strips your natural oils just as regular shampoo does.

No it doesn't strip it out, it just absorbs the oils at your roots! Probably most people could stand to wash the roots of their hair everyday, the problem is our ends get so dry, so by not washing your hair you are able to let your ends get some of that oil. Once you train your hair it won't be so oily, it will start producing less oil because you army washing it so frequently! I wash my hair about every 3 days, when it was longer I only washes once or twice a week. You get used to it! :)

First, switch to a sulfate free shampoo. In a month, your scalp will have adjusted to that. Then you can start using conditioner only, and your hair won't become greasy so fast. I only have to do my hair twice a week and I don't use dry shampoo at all. I've thought about it, but it's not really necessary.

Alyssa, oh I didn't realize that but it makes sense! Thank you!
@stephanie I actually do use sulfate free shampoo. I've never heard of just using conditioner that's interesting! Thank you for your information!

In that case, you can just go straight to conditioning only.
Drugstore conditioners contain the same cleaners that shampoos do, only in lower amounts and without a bunch of foaming agents and with more moisturizing agents. Check out the curly-girl method...there's lots of information there. Make sure you read the label though and avoid conditioners that contain dimethicone (mine has amodimethicone, which is the lighter version...some people prefer not to use silicones at all) as it can build up over time.
