I was not impressed with the bobby brown manual. There is a Cindy Crawford pictorial about getting a flawless finish and a natural look I love. I think it's called basic face about making the most of who you already are.

Making Faces and Face Forward by Kevin Aucion. They are my bibles and are a great way to learn everything about makeup.

Getting Gorgeous by InStyle magazine. Kevyn Aucoin books are amazing, but there aren't any step-by-step photos. I usually use Making Faces as inspiration rather than a how-to.

The Aucion books have step by steps of all the looks with diagrams and photos. Jacqueline H. is right, you must be thinking of the wrong book.
