I personally like the elliptical because it burn calories without being harsh on the joints. I actually have been looking for a small at home elliptical myself. Have u found any?

I hate working out, so you may be the complete opposite...but as for machines in your home/personal space this is how I reacted to different things...
I've had an elliptical in the past and I hated it. I probably used it 1 or 2 times just because I hated looking at it taking up so much space in my apartment...
Now I have a collapsable/foldable stationary bike that folds up and fits in my closet and I use it all the time! They do have collapsable/foldable ellipticals out there but they were much more expensive than the bikes...
Living in my parents house in high school we had a whole home gym and I used the treadmill more than the elliptical. But the treadmill is soooo much larger, I couldn't consider keeping one in my small apartment now.

My elliptical became a $1500 clothes rack after 6 months. Whatever you do find an affordable machine and don't make my costly mistake. I wish I would've bought used instead of new because I rarely used it. :(
