I have an interview next week for the position of part time beauty advisor!!
Does anybody also work at Macy's, or have worked there in cosmetics? I'd love to get a heads up on what the interview process entails; what exactly will they ask; how conservative Macy's is....will I be able to keep my tiny nose hoop and small Monroe? What kind of look would be best?
Thanks to all who respond!!

My cousin was a beauty advisor at lancome in Macy's he just quit the job a couple of weeks ago he want happy at all.But could be different for you.He had to change his style and even though his numbers were good he said they told him he was to Campy and needed to tone it down and get the credit cards in.

I worked at Macys, not as a beauty advisor though. I had great 'connects' with the beauty advisors though and they all loved their jobs. Only thing is it gets competitive, at least mine did because my store was on commission, and it was a high class kind of store, but it would get competitive. You gotta be a really good sales person, be able to make your daily goals. Again idk if that was only because my store was on commission and if its different for beauty advisors. Hope I helped at least a little bit.

I work at Macy's in the fragrances and its not that bad. the majority of the girls are really nice, but it does get competitive. but I really like that you can always get samples and my co-worker says she gets super good free stuff from the counter she works at.

Maya, what's the dress code? Will I have to take out my tiny silver nostril hoop and Monroe?

They let you keep those. You just have to wear majority black.

And you have to wear full face I think if youre in beauty.

Yeah just wear mostly black, you can accent in colors like with accessories or shoes. a lot of the girls I work with come in with no makeup on and just use the stuff there to do their makeup. all in all its really not bad, but I think it just depends on the people you're working with. so just be confident & easygoing & you should be fine!
