Try putting on concealer before putting on a red lipstick. Then after blot with a bit of powder and a napkin.

Try Lime Crime's Velvetines. It's a matte red lipgloss. They come in two gorgeous shades and from what I've heard, arent too drying.

Ruby Woo by MAC. That stuff does not budge! It is a tad stiff, but I mean Matte lipstick is almost synonymous with drying.

Hourglass Liquid Rouge in "icon". Apply's like a gloss but sets to a matte finish and isn't drying to the lips at all. Plus, it doesn't budge. Even after removing it (8 hours of wear) my lips do not have that dry yucky feeling. I love it.

I would also suggest Ruby Woo by MAC. It is a great shade without being super in your face, and it is long lasting.

Seconding Shelley's rec for Hourglass Liquid Rouge. Icon is a much darker red, and Raven is a shade that's really nice and closer to a true, neutral red. You might also want OCC lip tar, as well. The non-metallic shades have a nice matte finish.

I like to use MAC lip liner in cherry red. I just apply it to the entire lip. It has lasting power and isn't too drying, while appearing matte.

expensive brands, yes ruby woo. drug store brands wet n wild matte lipstick, either red velvet or stoplight red. however if u apply a red lip pencil after moisturizing ur lips as a base and apply red lipstick with a lip brush you will increase the staying power of it by a mile

Mac has one n wow is it matte!!I have to put a conditioner on it cuz its very drying on my lips.Maybelline is creamy and bright.
