that is not true your hair does not grow thicker and dark. beauty tip for all!
when you start growing hair your hair grows out with a thin point at the end. when you shave your hair you shave it into a stump so the end of your hair is no longer thin its a stump so it grows out and appears thicker but your hair does not get thicker. try waxes and creams that make the end of hair thinner for appearance. I suggest veet :)

If your going to do anything to it, don't shave! Wax. I have hairy arms too and I shaved them and regret it so much! I waxed them and it started coming back thinner each time :)

Listen to Alisa and Kayli. And anyone else who said your hair WON'T grow back thicker because it WON'T. That's such a myth. I shaved my arm once because I was in special effects school and I was someone's model for a project and they were doing a liquid latex buildup on my arm. To remove latex you peel it off and I wanted to avoid peeling my hair off with it. Its not like waxing, it doesn't all come off in one swipe, so it would have been really irritating. So I shaved and nothing happened. It wasn't prickly, there were no bumps, and it didn't grow back thicker.
Of course with any type of shaving it requires upkeep, just like your hair when it needs a trim. Arms have less surface area than legs so its faster for sure. You could try Nair or waxing as some have suggested, but I personally wouldn't spend the money for either when I could just as easily shave it off at no cost.

This is so controversial it's hilarious! I have shaved my forearms since I've shaved my calves and it's super fast and low-maintenance. It's like an afterthought in the shower and my arms feel so smooth and lovely afterward. I feel you should do what you want and it's really not that big of a deal.

The whole hair growing back thicker and darker after shaving is definitely a myth. It just seems like its coming back thicker because the hair is all coming back at once and because shaving takes off the thinner part of the hair the thicker part is what grows out first. I would recommend waxing because of how long it lasts. I would say try shaving first just to see if you feel better about your arms afterward. Be sure to use lots of lotion no matter what route you take :)

Do what makes you happy, sure people can say no one notices it but you do, so again do what makes you happy, don't let teasing get to you, eventually you won't care, good luck and they won't grow back darker and thicker, so not true

ive been shaving my arm hair since I was in middle school. I am 23 now and my arm hair is just the same as before I started shaving, now im not saying that this will be the same for you.
ultimately it is your choice to make when the time comes.
just be cautious and do what makes you feel comfortable.

I shave my arms and it really doesn't come back so thick as people seem to think, I only shave them once every week or two, although I will say it grows quickly and I have blonde hair so it's not as easily noticed, but if you have dark hair you'd probably have to shave pretty often

omg!!! DON'T DO IT!!! You'll regret it. I'm hairy too and I shaved the peach fuzz on my chin once now I have dark marks and course hair. I would suggest laser hair removal. I'm saving up for it.

It's not true, it WON'T grow back thicker or darker. I shave my arms and love that it's always smooth (especially when applying lotion) I tried waxing and it actually bruised my arms. I'm giving you this advice from personal experience not some bogus myth!!

Don't shave them. They do grow back darker and honestly when they start to grow they look horrible which makes you have to shave them every time they start growing back up.. Too much work

It's a complete MYTH that the hair grows back thicker or darker if you shave. What happens when you shave is that you cut the hair above the skin and as a result stubble is created. As the hair grows out it of course LOOKS thicker and darker because you're seeing the top of a "stub". If you wax or pluck what happens is the hair is plucked from the bulb so when new hair grows out it LOOKS normal and in some cases looks thinner and lighter.
The best thing to do with arm hair is one of three temporary things:
1. Wax the arms. It's more expensive to wax but it leaves you long lasting results.
2. Use some type of product such as Veet to "eat" the hair away. The downside is that many people are allergic to such products and it doesn't last as long as waxing.
3. Bleach the hair. It's actually less than $7 to buy a bleaching kit but results with people vary - for some the results last up to a month others a couple of weeks.
The more permanent route is of course laser hair removal which of course is the most expensive method and takes several sessions.
I hate shaving arms because it's a pain (much like shaving legs). It's so tedious to shave one's arms which is why I prefer to bleach.

If your willing to do it often sure why not! But if you dont do it like 3 times a week your hair will grow back thicker and darker im speaking from experiance!(:

Just to dispel the myth I've shaved my arms for an experiment. I'll eventually have a blog post up within the next two or three weeks. One thing is for sure, I didn't realize I was such a Yeti! LOL

I've been shaving my arms for years. It stays so soft, and the hair is definitely less noticeable when it does grow back. That's just me. Everyone else is different, and not everyone can wax. I'd say give both a try.
