I think curly hair can be very silky! But whenever I see a woman with waterfalls of straight hair I too get jealous. The only bad part is that if you have really curly hair, you almost can't make it look that way with a straightener. The heat and time you have to use are very damaging, and often leave your hair looking stiff. Leave in conditioners and heat protecting products will help that, but if your hair is super curly I would suggest talking to you hair dresser about trying chemical straightening. Good luck either way! (:

Totally agree with katelynn but if u do flat iron the best heat protectant I've found is treseme spray in the black and red bottle (forgot the name sry)

I have super duper curly hair, and I would straighten it everyday last year so no one knew. Now my hair feels dead, it used to be so silky and happy. :( If you do straighten your hair, make sure you use heat protection spray.

My hair isn't super curly, but it is super frizzy...so I got the Brazilian blow out...and it's been the best thing I've done to hair.

Yes its totally ok to flat iron your hair twice a week. Even better if you got some heat protectant before you dry n flat iron. Good luck

Its still damaging but way less when compared to 5 times a week without any heat protectant. It makes a huge difference.

Protectant only goes so far.

Drop the flat iron. Flat irons are very, very hot and the MORE heat you use the MORE it will damage your hair over time, regardless of whether or not you use heat protectant.

What you want to do is be able to BLOW DRY your hair straight. First off, your hair doesn't come into any direct contact with 400 degree plates. Secondly, a good blow dry seals the cuticle and prevents humidity from entering the hair which will cause frizz and the curl to slowly reform. Your hair will also have a lot more bounce from a blow dry than it will from an ironing job.

Trust me. Learn the art...practice, practice, practice. Don't get discouraged, and let your products work for you as much as possible.

Blow drying your hair still damages your hair and you still need to use a heat protectant when you blow dry and if your only going to straighten your hair twice a week a heat protectant will help your hair not get as damaged and yes when blow drying your hair doesn't come in direct contact with hot plates but it comes in direct contact with hot air blowing down onto it causing almost the same damage so which ever you choose to do make sure you use a good heat protectant.

I recommend either getting it straightened from a hair stylist, which will last awhile, or leave it curly!
