Is product build-up in hair a real issue? I use a blowdry lotion, heat protection spray, and a leave in conditioner about 4 times a week. Shampoo & condition everyday to everyother day. I know theres a shampoo out for product build up... but idk if its just hype??? Thanks ladies:) I'm on a journey to grown long hair!

It's awesome that you're using products that are protecting your hair. That being said, you might be overdoing things a little bit. Leave in conditioners and treatments should be used only about once a week, maybe two, and only more if you're experiencing really bad breakage and frizz.
I would recommend a clarifying shampoo/conditioner about once every couple of weeks to once a month, just to balance the pH of your hair and scalp. Redken makes a good one, called the Hair Cleansing Cream, and so does Evo, called the Normal Persons Shampoo and Conditioner.

Bumble and bumble makes the best clarifying shampoo and you should use it once a week.

You can also add some baking soda to your regular shampoo, just in your hand, to remove buildup. Do that once a week.

Use clarifying shampoo once a week or every other week. You don't need to spend a lot on it. The v05 shampoo works great.

You can also use the shampoo u currently use and mix it with baking soda to form a paste- wash ur hair and leave it on for like a minute then rinse and condition really good. Thatll strip everything out. You should do that like once a week.

It just kind of depends on your hair. Some people have more problems with product buildup than others. If your hair feels kind of dry and "crunchy" (for lack of a better word), you can try a clarifying shampoo and that may fix the problem.
Personally I use silicones out the whazoo and I don't get any buildup problems. If I had to guess, I'd say it's due to the porosity of your hair. If your hair is less porous, stuff doesn't get into nooks and crannies, so any sulfates (or whatever detergents you use) are going to pretty effectively take off whatever is on the surface without resorting to any extremely high-lathering shampoos. But that's just a guess.
