Hair Ombré Question, Please Help!

If I got ombré and my hair started to grow a couple of months later would my hair grow from the bottom or the top? I know the hair grows from the scalp but Would the ombré be weird once my hair starts to grow? If you know what I mean-.-

The ombré just gets lower for example I've had my ombré since may2012 the "ombre" started at my ear
I need to touch it up now because it now reached my middle back hope this helps :)
