use rollers! damp your hair and apply gel or mousse, apply the rollers with sections only as wide as the roller and wait till it is COMPLETELY dry, once dry brush it out, style the curls, and apply a frizz serum if it feels too stiff

you can also use flexi rods some people find them easiter to use then rollers

also depends on what kind of hair you have. if youre working with naturally straight hair, youll probably have to use a lot of products to make the curls hold. but like judy said use rollers. i would put them on after you wash your hair. i would use a mousse specfically for curling hair so it helps the curls hold. i dont know about gel though, it might weigh down the hair a little.

I used to do roller sets at school all the time and we'd always use gel on our dollheads and if you dont use too much it doesnt weigh it down but does give it lasting power, also it was a water based gel not particularly strong hold and i'd get beautiful results with it, it was some big tub of pink gel lol I used a sebastian whipped mousse one time and the curls fell out so it depends on the product also!
