I'm a swimmer I swim at least twice a week. So I'm always exposing my hair too chlorine. So I was wondering am I ruining my hair? If yes what do I do?

I'm a swimmer as well, and my hair is blonde :/ It dries it out, but as long as you shampoo out the chlorine after swim and condition it daily with a good moisturizing conditioner it isn't too bad for your hair.

Yes. I swim 6 times a week for 2+hours each day. It drys it out and makes it feel coarse. Deep condition daily and use a leave in conditioner. But dot let that stop you from swimming. Also over long periods of time it bleaches your hair.

Is shampooing and conditioning my hair daily good or does ruin it?
Jan 26, 2013
Lydia T.
I think it's good because you don't want the chlorine staying in your hair for long periods of time..

The thing is I don't swim everyday so there isn't always chlorine in my hair. So should I still do this daily?

Use a ph balanced shampoo. If you wet your hair before you swim then the chlorine wont absorb as much into your hair. Make sure to wash your hair after you swim though.

It ruins ur hair color if you dye it because I was in swimming and had blonde highlights and they started to fade quickly because of the chlorine

Yes. Chlorine is the same chemical as in bleach. The effects are similar. The chlorine will dry your hair, damage it, and fade it's color. Wearing a swim cap helps. Also, getting the chlorine out of your hair after swimming by using a vitamin C spray (like SwimSpray) helps. www.SwimSpray.com
