Try not to use heat, and invest in protects from the Fall Fight line by Garnier. Those products are incredible for breakage.

-Don't brush/comb when wet or damp, hair is most vunerable then. Even when conditioning.
-Don't wash hair everyday. Just dont :P
- Brush hair UPwards. I know, what? It's easy, brush the ends of your hair first, then work upwards. You still want to brush downwards, but work UPwards :) Less dragging :)
-Don't backcomb/tease. Wrecks your hair.
- Use a deep conditioner once or twice a week. Or just mix equal parts of honey and olive oil, heat in microwave until warm and leave on hair for half an hour. Rinse and wash as usual :)
- Use argan oil on the ends as often as poissible. Morrocan oil is basically the same.
- You said you don't use heat-but if you do, SMOTHER your hair in a protector. I use argan oil and it works perfect :)
Hope I helped. :)
