You'll definitely have to bleach if your hair isn't already blonde enough because lilac is such a light color. I would definitely see a professional to do it, also. Bleaching and dying your hair lilac can go very wrong if not done properly.

I mean...you can bleach your hair at home and buy lilac dye. But I REALLY wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you're doing.

okay thank you! and where would you find a lilac dye?

Sally Beauty Supply would probably be your best bet. It's becoming more popular now that you might have a chance of finding it in drugstores but it would probably only be temporary dye. Hot Topic is also known for having some funky colors.

What I did was first time go to a hairdresser to bleach my hair, or just do it at home: tip, toner makes the orangy/blonde look go away to get it entirely white, then buy the paint (good ones are directions or manic panic). Tips to make it last: blowdry your hair while dyeing, the heat helps the process, don't wash your hair too often, wash with cold water, flow some regular vinegar through the hair after coloring it, that helps it set :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy-gP0VvC98 <-- some helpfull stuff too.
