Beauty Product Reviews
What a steal.
I knew automatically upon seeing the tiny pixelated picture of this palette that I: 1. had to have it and 2. would be incredibly spoiled by it. I am not disappointed. Pros: highly pigmented, a ton of shadow in each pain, tons of colors, great deal, amazing variety of colors, shadows grab onto brush well Cons: a decent amount of shimmer fallout, may get too much shadow on brush at a time (so be careful!), very few matte shades (I think the black is matte?)
Perfect for experimenting with bold, vivid pigmented color looks AND different smoky eyes even if you're just starting out. Oh and the black shadow alone (which UD pretty much has in every palette) is essential. You can do a lot of wonders with the 15 Year Anniversary Palette.
HG of exfoliation
It's considered one of the best microdermabrasion products on the market and highly affordable considering the cost of a visit to the spa! It contains micro beads that will rub after the outermost surface of your skin off, revealing more radiant skin, reducing clogging of the pores, and also combatting blackheads. It works well to even skin tone (and I also use it to lighten darker areas around my mouth/chin) and smooth it out (I have been mistaken for wearing foundation on several occasions after using this, but not with other exfoliators!). It's my HG skin care product. I use it with my Olay exfoliating brush or Clarisonic. I've also used Olay's exfoliating scrub which is similar but I prefer my Mary Kay. The set is $55 which sounds steep but totally worth it IMHO because you don't need a lot and it's enough for a long time if you're doing 1-2 washes a week with the set. It's actually cheaper for the first step alone, I believe, as the second is a replenishing anti-oxidant-filled moisturizer. Get the first step only if you're tight on budget. It's fragrance-free (not sure what was up with the product that another reviewer had) and not rough (in fact, it is comparable to Olay but I think even Mary Kay's is even finer). I'm always excited to use this product as my face always glows right after and I highly recommend it.
Straight-up Benzoyl Peroxide in 5%.
Great product, works well at disinfecting the acne area. I don't have very bad acne, but it works well as a spot treatment. I've given this to friends who have cleared up their acne very significantly in a few weeks time. I'm surprised doesn't dry up my skin, despite it being at the strength it is (and I have dry skin and moisturize minimally), thus gaining more favor! As for advice for those with severe acne, if you check out Goss Makeup Artist's video on clearing acne, you can follow the regime he does (he uses benzoyl peroxide, though at 2.5%) to clear up major acne. He used a moisturizer and sunscreen, go watch it it's excellent!
