Beauty Product Reviews
Great Buffing Foundation Brush!
This brush works great at buffing and blending out my cream stick foundations as well as liquid foundations without absorbing up the product. The dense rounded shape helps to leave a very airbrushed and even finish, and works just as well (if not better!) than my other pricier foundation brushes. It is a smaller brush size for foundation, but I've found it more helpful to blend around the smaller areas of the face such as nose and undereyes, and also gives me more control to build up coverage as needed. Overall, a great staple to my brush collection!
Natural Power Boost
I've only taken this once so far, but I did feel an immediate boost of energy! I was in need of coffee one morning and wanted to see how this would work in place of caffeine. The energy boost did a good job to carry me over until lunch, and I did drink this in combination with jasmine green tea.
I really like the convenience of these to-go packets so I can take them with me without creating a mess. I'd recommend mixing with something since I didn't particularly love the mushroom flavor on its own. The mixture does settle to the bottom of your cup after a while, so I would stir my tea before sipping. Perhaps it'd be better mixing into something thicker like a smoothie for that reason so I'll give that a try next.
Foolproof Top Coat
This is one of the best top coats I've come across! Has a thinner consistency compared to the Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, but a similar strong chemical scent. The scent is temporary, and the long-lasting protection makes it worth it to endure. Dries super quickly (after I finish applying my second hand, my first hand is usually set). And of course it leaves a high-shine finish. It pairs perfectly with Smith & Cult polishes since they also dry super fast for an easy at-home manicure.
Soothing and Light-Weight Moisturizer
This is a really great lightweight cream moisturizer, with a whipped airy consistency. A little does go a long way, so a pea size is all you need. It has a slight cooling sensation, so when my skin is irritated this always feels really nice. Since it's so light, I can use it for both day and night and layers fine with makeup.
Dry Shampoo for Dry Scalp
I love that there is a dry shampoo formula for us with dryer scalps! This comes in different delivery system than your typical dry shampoo. You do have to shake before use since the powder will settle, but I find this to be more hydrating for my scalp and yet still able to absorb the excessive oil at the roots. It worked best for second day hair, and needed touch-up for third day hair. Does not leave a white cast in my black hair.
You can barely feel the powdery texture when you run your hands through your hair, and it also gives a little boost of volume! It has a slight powdery scent which is not my preference, but I typically follow with the Relative Paradise Fragrance Spray which I'm also loving!
Super comfortable lip balm, perfect to prep prior to liquid lipsticks since it hydrates but does not give too much slip. There is no honey scent, but at least there is no overpowering flavor. Does not have an obvious glossy finish so my bf will actually willingly use this too!
The additional hydration step I needed
This has a light gel-like water consistency, and a little goes a long way to cover your entire face. While I've found the right cleansers that do not strip my skin or leave me with that tight feeling, when I apply this it instantly absorbs in to hydrate and plump my skin. When I skip this step, I definitely notice a difference and my skin does not feel as hydrated the next day. I also notice this helps to prep the absorption of my serums and creams and make them more effective.
It is not the easiest to dispense the product into my palm, but I still appreciate the elegant glass bottle packaging.
Magic in a Jar
First off, I love the spatula that magnetizes to the lid!
The thick gel mask turns into a white creamy texture after you message it into your face. After leaving on for 10 minutes, I felt a tingly heat sensation and it intensified a bit more when I rinsed it off. I found out afterwards that the sensation is normal due to the glycerin reaction that binds the moisture to your skin. For that reason, I would not recommend using an exfoliant beforehand.
The next day, I could instantly tell my dull skin was revitalized. While I initially tried this to help nourish my skin, I found that it also helped to reduce the small blemishes I had since honey is antibacterial too. Couldn't ask for more in a mask!
Cleansing Balm for All Skin Types!
This super light balm instantly melts into your skin into a milky consistency. It is able to remove even the most waterproof makeup, while not stripping your skin or leaving behind a film (which makes it great for all skin types). No more smudgy residue from waterproof mascara!
I typically like to double cleanse, but this does such a great job that I find that I don't have to - the perfect makeup remover and cleanser all in one!
Yummy and Fun Peel Off Mask
This smells amazing - earthy and sweet like honey and ginger. This is a fun peel off mask, and it helps to lift any dead skin cells and dry patches when I physically peel it off. My skin does feel quite soft afterwards.
I've never tried using a mask after applying emulsion/serum before so I was worried it would just remove the products I applied just before with it, but I feel like it actually helped to seal everything in instead.
