Perfection
Do not under estimate the title 'studio skin'. This foundation gives me the confidence to feel like I have just walked out of a studio. As a girl with freckles (and lots of them) it is hard to find a foundation that isn't going to make me look like a child's birthday cake or a dorito chip. When I put on this foundation I know that by the time I get in to the car to begin my day it won't be all worn off. It will still be there, like a good friend this foundation won't leave you when you need it most. Long day at the office, sweaty day in the park or a hot date this babies got your back. x
Overall good and buildable foundation
I got this foundation back in the winter when my skin was really dry. Obviously with the help of moisturizer and Smashbox's hydrating primer this foundation covers well yet leaves room to build upon it. It dries pretty quick, though. Matches almost perfectly with my skin.
Favorite liquid foundation, but not a complete fix....
I have sensitive skin that changes with the seasons. It's a little dry in the winter with a sometimes shiny t-zone, and more combination in the summer. I switched to this Smashbox foundation about 4 months ago and so far, I love it. Goes on smooth and silky, blends beautifully, has a light luminous finish. It does last all day long, but it is by no means sweat-proof. Trust me, I live in Houston where it is frequently a hot humid 80 degrees in December, and this foundation will sweat right off. If you want a truly water-proof foundation then go look at Make Up For Ever.
The best thing about the Smashbox Studio Skin is that it looks completely natural. However, I like a full-coverage, flawless base and this just doesn't get you there. To achieve that I start with the Studio Skin and then finish with Make Up For Ever's Duo Mat. But if you want a light, luminous, easy to wear and use liquid that gives you a natural look (complete with hints of imperfections peeking through) then this is for you.
Professional opinion? A breakthrough in foundation.
As a MUA that works with celebs, magazines, and runway - I have to give this foundation all 5 stars. Not only is it sweat/transfer/water resistant, but it's also paraben and cruelty free, which is big to a lot of my clients. Camera-safe SPF also helps with on-location shoots. It is my new "go-to" foundation. You will notice many more neutral tones, a great change from Smashbox's popular VERY golden-based HD formula. I only wish there were more shades, 12 is not enough!
