Wow! I am in love!
I have incredibly dry and sensitive skin and I really struggle to find products that don't irritate my skin. I have a long love of May's The Problem Solver mask. It is probably my favorite thing I have ever bought. This exfoliator smells like ginger cookies and transforms into a lovely fizzy mousse when combined with water. I then spread it all over my face, neck, and chest while massaging in circular motions. I always use in the shower (1-2 times per week) and let it hang out on my skin after massaging while I shave or exfoliate my body. Then I rinse and massage my clean face in circular motions to release any additional dead skin per May's instruction. After use my skin feels fresh and clean and so baby soft. This is the first exfoliator in years that does not irritate or further sensitize my skin. I find the whole experience of using The Clean Dirt to be a pleasure and a part of my routine that I look forward to. I would highly recommend!
Unlike any other cleanser you've tried.
First, a bit about me. 46, combo skin with very dry patches and very oily ones. Light rosacea. And a skincare obsession.
May's Clean Dirt is unlike any other cleanser you've used. It's a powder form - you can be forgiven for thinking you're mixing a smoothie when you first open the bottle. The smell - rich and deep and fall-like - is stunning. You add warm water, create a paste and then use like you would any other cleanser. It is a tad abrasive. I hadn't used a physical exfoliator in a while so it took a little getting used to. And I don't use it every day - usually 3 times a week. But I don't find it irritating on my skin at all. It removes every trace of makeup, oil and grime from daily living, leaving you with a clean, fresh and bright complexion. I adore it.
Underrated!
I think this is one of the more underrated May Lindstrom products-- everyone raves about The Problem Solver, but I find The Clean Dirt to be much more suited to my sensitive skin, much less messy, and something that I can more easily incorporate into my skincare routine. I use a moderate amount mixed with water to form a thin mask and gently massage it into my face. I love chemical exfoliators for refining my pores, but I just haven't been able to stop using gentle physical exfoliators-- sometimes you just need a little more help getting some dry skin off! The Clean Dirt leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed without any sting or irritation.
It’s dirt ....that’s clean!
First off, I loved the name of this product mostly because I have my hands in dirt all day secondly, I’m a skin care freak because my pores have always been large and get easily clogged and I will get oily in the heat. I almost never wear make up but when I do, it just and extra thing to have to wash off and after working in the heat all day with plants and animals and dust I religiously wash my face and neck every night. I wake up with such soft skin and I noticed my skin tone starting to even out! This stuff smells amazing, the feel is exfoliating but not harsh and you don’t need to use very much at all. So for the price you’re getting a lot of amazing product and beautiful packaging, which you can reuse! I definitely splurged on this item but I will 100% be purchasing more of these products in the future. I only need to use this maybe 2-3 times a week and my skin is happy.
A potent potion is brewing. ;)
This is an intriguing product, yet so effective and simple to use. It's hard to believe this dry powder could do so much, yet it DOES. Some people hate the mess, I love that the fresh ingredients of The Clean Dirt lay dormant, only when suddenly activated by water causes a reaction that I know will elicit the perfect exfoliation of my skin every time that never leaves my skin dry or irritated. I prefer that mess over the mass marketed mess that's been suspended in a liquid for God knows how long on a shelf that's been degrading since it's conception.
Plus, the bubbling is exciting every time. With child-like glee, I feel like I'm brewing a potion everytime I use it. I actually look forward to using it and The Problem Solver because they're so different than everything else on the market, far more effective than anything I've tried thus far and I've tried a LOT. Many have tried and failed where May Lindstrom succeeds every time. I have not used a single product of May's that hasn't done exactly what it says on the box. Other companies should take several notes.
Has a gentle, refreshing tingle
Well it does look like dirt lol. But my skin after use is amazing. Makes me want to use it every day - but May’s other products leave my skin looking and feeling just as good, so I don’t have to. Like my “quick take” says, it has a gentle, refreshing tingle. Enough of a tingle that one might expect some redness but that doesn’t happen. My skin is left with an even texture, smaller pores and soft, hydrated, clear skin that does NOT end up with an absorbable layer of oil in a few hours. Even if you decide not to use the rest of the line, get this exfoliator.
Not for sensitive skin
As someone with sensitive, dry but blemish prone skin it’s hard to find the right exfoliater. This sadly was not the one. I don’t know if it was directly related (with sensitive skin anything can set it off) but after a few uses my skin totally broke out in a way it never has :( I love this brand but this was not for me.
Magic Powder Is Right!!!!
Powdered cleansers had always been to me one of those products that you really want to try, but you just never get around to doing so. When I was introduced to the May Lindstrom line by way of a colleague, I was instantly intrigued by the Clean Dirt cleanser.
Being a licensed Esthetician, I know the benefits of natural products and saw that this was also a warming cleanser, so you know I had to put it to the test!
I must say that not only does it do an amazing job at cleansing my skin without stripping it, but the experience is fascinating! You can mix this powder with a little bit of water to make a mousse and once you start massaging this onto the skin, you really feel the lite tingling and warming sensation.
It is infused with purifying minerals and warming spices that you can really feel go to work on the skin. This cleanser's light exfoliation really helps refine my pores, smooth out my skin's texture and adds an all-over glow that can not be denied.
This is a truly transformative cleanser and a must try in my book!
My wonderful journey with Mays line started with The problem solver, Honey Mud, and The Blue Cocoon. However, I had such amazing results both physically ( clearing stubborn hormonal AND cystic acne in 3 weeks) and mentally ( this line has a way of invigorating your senses to a place of calm and happiness), that I had to reorder The Honey mud first. I got with it samples of Clean Dirt (wish I could use Everyday!) and Jasmine Garden( Favorite). You just can’t go wrong with May’s line. I’m a poor student but always will find a way to keep this entire line as I now am asked what kind of foundation I’m wearing and Answer is NONE. I’m 40, been going thru menopause since a full hysterectomy in 2010 and I’ve tried IT ALL ( Accutane, oral antibiotics) and Mays line has my skin happy, balanced, and my mind at ease knowing I don’t have to look down when passing ppl bc I’m embarrassed with my acne ridden oily face. She’s a game changer and thank you Beautylish for making her line possible for me to afford, without you , I’d still be looking down at the sidewalk .
Wonderful exfoliator
I use this exfoliator every other day and it had cleaned all of the "gunk" out of my pores making them "appear" smaller. This is the most gentle exfoliator I have every used. I don't feel like I am damaging my skin and it is made with very mild ingredients. A little goes a long way so the bottle should last a while. My acne scarring is fading from my regular, gentle exfoliation.
