Oh My, Terry
I’ve had my eye on this since it dropped. I’m glad I went for it, because this palette is stunning! I was worried about the rose/berry shade, but it is a revelation, and I love it. I worried a few of the darker shades would be too dark, but they are very easy to blend, and I can go in with a super light hand or really go for it. In short, I think this palette can work for everyone, and it is beautiful.
Colors are very similar on medium-tan skin
For full disclosure, I bought this off of the By Terry website when it was out of stock on Beautylish.
I'm very sad that I didn't have the same experience as some of the other reviewers, because all things being said this is a very beautiful pallete. The packaging, the embossing, and the color scheme are lovely. I'm not sure if I got a defective one but I don't see anything close to what others are saying about the pigment, the colors barely pick up on my Sonia G. brushes (I have to really struggle to pack them on), the copper shade had hard pan after only 2 uses, and even with my Hourglass primer they go on very streaky and somehow make my eyes look aged.
Additionally, the colors themselves are not as distinct as I thought, at least on my skintone. Many of the taupe-brown shimmer shades look identical to the pink shade (it's a weird, pinky-brown iridescent look) and overall end up with no differentiation between the two. It cuts out a significant level of versatility in the palette. I'm surprised at the sameness of the colors on the eye, and while the palette is very uniform I was hoping for a lot more in terms of pigment and differentiation.
So I sadly cannot recommend, though I think that it might be better for those with a lighter skin tone as the colors might have more variation (though the hard pan issue might just be the formula in my opinion). I would definitely recommend ND Biba/Glam/Bronze or ABH Soft Glam if you're looking for similar neutral tones, because this palette just isn't satisfactory.
It's so beautiful!
This is a GORGEOUS palette (and the beautiful little Paris stamps make it almost a shame to use!), and I'm already in love. It's a very small palette, which makes it perfect for travel, but each pan is surprisingly pretty big. The colors are perfect neutrals, all very versatile for both cool and warm looks if you like, without being overly shimmery. I'm 57, so too much shimmer is something I need to be cautious about, but this isn't so shimmery that it accentuates any lines. And it's vegan, which is very important to me. Pretty much the only downsides are the price, but I have to say, it's totally worth it, and that pointless little brush they include, which I just tossed away. Beyond that, you will love it!
I’m huge By Terry fan. I just received this palette. This is my second palette from this company. Beautiful formula. I also have the loose powder as well. So worth the price tag. Would suggest to splurge if your looking for a great loose powder or beautiful eyeshadow palette...Judy D from NY State
GO TO Palette of Creamy, Pigmented shades of Pinks & Browns
The BY TERRY brand isn't a loud, "shout it from the rooftops" type of brand. But it is a stealth sleeper HIT! Terry de Gunzburg is the artist behind the brand BY TERRY, which she launched after collaborating with Yves Saint Laurent for 15 years. Her makeup line is chic & understated, but in my opinion, her SKINCARE line deserves 5 stars!! The Rose Lip de Baum has a cult following for its healing & beautifying properties. The V.I.P. palette is a easy, everyday go-to palette. The Pinks, Burgundy & chocolate browns are beautiful. I've used the matte chocolate brown to fill in my brow's sparse areas & it works great! This is my 2nd BY TERRY palette and I can say, it is a Go-To palette. Recommend!
