Beauty Product Reviews
It's a nice palette
This is a good, solid performing palette and pencils. What I liked: The eyeshadow shades apply well, blend well, and I had very little fall out, both in the pan and on my lid. The pans are large, you get plenty of product, and there's very little wasted space in the palette. The pencils had plenty of pigment, were smooth going on, and blended well. They also didn't dry quickly so I didn't feel rushed to blend. What I didn't like: The glittery shade. To me it was reminiscent of Charlotte Tilbury's "pop" shades (though this one felt a little smoother than hers). It did sprinkle down under my eyes and cheeks and I won't be using it often. One comment about Wayne's marketing...it was said in the video the target audience is 40s, 50s, and 60s,. I'm in my early 50s so I'm in the target range. However, 30 somethings were used to demonstrate. Obviously it shows up great on them so I understand, but for the next palette release (which I expect to purchase) it would be more authentic if a face in the target range was included in the demo.
A little greasy
The strawberry gum scrub smells wonderful, has a pleasant taste, and does a nice job as a scrub so I give it 3 stars. However, I don't like the feel of my lips after I use it. My lips have this strange oily feel, and the more I purse my lips together, it's almost like it makes the oil congeal and feel waxy and it bothers me to no end. I prefer to use an apricot face scrub on my lips and follow-up with a nice balm.
Great highlighter for my warm skin
I have light to medium skin with warm undertones so I wanted to try this warm rose gold for highlighting and I really like the look I get with it. I'm in my late 40's and the lighter highlighters can be too much highlight for me. I just want a soft glow. I use my fingers and put this on all the usual highlight places over my foundation and under my powder. I was happily surprised to see it still came through the powder. It gave me the glow that I was looking for.
Fantastic multi-purpose eye brush
This is a really nice all purpose eye shadow brush. I use this for putting shadow on my lids, blending shadow in the crease, and putting highlight shadow in the corner of my eyes and brow bone with the tip and side. My favorite use is for the lid. With the pointed top, I feel like I can get the shadow precisely on the lid and up to the crease with out going over the crease. It's super light weight and the handle is short, which is good for me because I get up close to the mirror and hate when the handle knocks into the mirror. I don't feel it's as soft as Wayne Goss' #6 brush (similar style) and maybe not quite as dense, but it's still soft and a wonderful brush and appreciate that it's a little more pointed at the top. I'll definitely buy more of Rae's brushes.
Very nice nude
If I saw this color in the store I wouldn't consider trying it on, but since Wayne Goss loved it in a video I thought I'd give it go. I'm really glad I did! I normally don't wear nudes, but I really enjoy wearing this color. I used the iconic nude lip cheat and seduction luster and it's a beautiful, natural nude. I'm fair to medium skin and it gave me just the right amount of color (it still looked like I had lipstick on but not overly obvious). It goes on smooth and while I didn't find it moisturizing, it wasn't dry either. I do prefer wearing it with a lip luster.
3 out of 4 ain't bad...
I ordered all but the green palette and they may all go back. 3 of the colors in each quad are lovely and go on smooth, velvety, and blend well. However, the 4th "pop" color just didn't work for me. I used a natural brush at first and after a couple of dips with the brush it got that odd hard film over it and I had to scrape it off. I switched to a synthetic brush and had to really beat on the pan to get color on my brush to finish the second eye. I then used a clean finger like in her video and that did absolutely nothing. For the money, I don't think having 3 usable eyeshadows are worth it.
