Beauty Product Reviews
Big, clumpy, spider lashes. Good for some occasions...
If you're going out and want DRAMA, this is what you want. Big, bold and brash, you will look like you're wearing false lashes. However, this isn't an "every occasion" mascara, as this result is achieved after only one coat. And never try to apply more than one coat, it dries pretty much instantly and upon the second coat will make lashes look flaky and dull. It's cheap, the formula is good enough, but the brush is a pain; I swear there is no way to apply this without product getting on your lids, and it's not the easiest mascara to remove. I found however, that it dried out within a very short time, and I'm very careful not to "pump" my mascaras, so that is a huge downfall. Everyday? Definitely not. Clubbing? Perfect.
It feels like you're painting your face with a wall emulsion. And smells like that too...
Honestly, did MAC not take the texture and smell into account at all before releasing this product? If you're all right with plastering yourself with paste, then you shouldn't have a problem with this. The coverage is great, the finish is pretty average BUT I CAN'T GET OVER THE SMELL. Oh my. It's inebriating. It does last well though, but I'm told by a lot of people it breaks them out (I personally did not have this problem and do have sensitive skin). I wish I liked this product, but I simply can't, and the price isn't alluring either.
The only highlighter you'll ever need!
Although one should be careful whilst applying this highly pigmented product, it's so easy to apply you can't really make a mistake. It gives you that "I'm awake!" glow and shows up wonderfully on camera. Use it with a light hand so as not to pull your foundation off, though, as I find it can attach itself to your makeup very quickly. I find it is too shimmery for use on the brow bone, but love it as a cheekbone and cupid's bow highlight. It's expensive but I swear just doesn't run out! Well worth the money.
Artifact and Rubenesque.
There's very little to say about these products, other than they're worth it! Artifact and Rubenesque are two beautiful colours, with fabulous colour payoff and texture. The only qualm I have, is that you need a good lid primer under these, or expect to be eyeshadowless in a few short hours. Excellent under any powder eyeshadow, or simply used alone for a quick look, they're an essential for anyone, simply for their value for money, as you receive a huge amount of product for the price!
Probably the best neutral palette out there!
This product is fabulous alone for what good value it is, 12 nearly full-sized shadows that respectively contain more product than a MAC pan for €30? Bargain! Then it comes to the beautiful range of neutral shades; starting at the barely there "Virgin", which although very powdery, is a lovely highlight, all the way to the dark and smoky "Creep", and the necessary pop of colour, "Gunmetal". The pigmentation and colour payoff is wonderful, although be prepared for a little fallout, and the brush provided is of excellent quality, although I am disappointed I did not receive the double-ended one, so for that reason it has lost half a star, sorry! As far as the actual palette goes it is sturdy and compact, easy to travel with and the velour cover makes it feel rather more posh than it is! Overall, a great product for anyone and everyone :)
