Beauty Product Reviews
Like, but not Love
I'm in like with this product. I prefer the the other, thicker form of Vitamin C at night, Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% from, "The Ordinary," but this has a place in my cabinet and my heart. I have used this as a primer under my CC cream, which is not expensive, and it makes everything lay nicely, without making me look too caked up. I find using facial primer with this product makes it too thick, so I keep it on the sheer side. This does go on looking oily, but it does not last long and sinks into the skin. I always use a mineral sunscreen over the top and never feel, or see it move underneath.
It is not a large tube, but you need so little, it's almost hard to get the smallest amount out. This works wonders with my niacinamide, I do itch for 30 seconds with Niacinamide, but that goes away and it's more than tolerable.
WOW. I Never Knew
This is a great product, which is what I love about, The Ordinary. It's simple, effective and very customizable. I'm fifty four, skin is now combination and I scar, badly, with serious darker pigment on my fairer than I like, skin. Every scar, former acne mark, you name it, was on my face. The entire history of an acne filled teens and twenties with sun damage. I am going to have to get my sun damage worked on deeply, but a dermatologist, but my skin looks so great right now. I mean it's the best it's been in my life. I use a couple of, The Ordinary, products that are right for me. I've been very skeptical of any C solution. I've heard, "Miracle in a Bottle," and "Does not do anything." For the price point, I decided to try it out. I am thrilled I did.
Things looked better at week one. At week two most of my old acne marks are gone, no new acne and my skin is so soft and supple. It looks amazing with foundation. I mean flawless and the skin I've dreamt about all my life, but with The Ordinary's Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%, I've seen the most dramatic change for the better.
The tone is more even, my wrinkles are there, but more blurry. Any redness is just gone, except for one mark from a flare up I had last summer. It's now February. It takes forever for redness to go from any skin damage I have, but not now. I have a horrible scar on my stomach that's 20 years old and I have seriously thought about this, mixed with something else, will consult a doctor I trust, for that scar. I'll let you know what my doctor says. I was going to use a couple of creams and serums that get amazing reviews, but the price point is way too high. I love that I can mix and match with The Ordinary and get what I need, which is this product. Nothing is everyone's holy grail product, but this is one of mine and I will not ever be without it.
WOW!
Yes, I know that caffeine is not permanent, it just constricts the extra blood vessels on top, but things so the lines look more filled in and you look rested, but it works. I can see some results within a couple of minutes and no, it does not correct dark circles, because they are not caused by lack of sleep in most people. Consult a dermatologist, or allergist. I don't feel it's tight, or pulling in anyway and there is just the right amount of caffeine to show the change, without the product being too high in caffeine, or ingredients I would never put near my eyes.
Sorry about the dark circle truth, but I'm a former cosmetic formulator and dark circles need more than a cream, or serum. The puffiness, depuffed is so much for me. I can see without looking like my eyes are all scrunched up, if I roll on my face. This is huge for me.
It's now morning and night, with an eye cream that I am going to change, but The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5%, stays forever. You only need a small drop.
Much Smaller
Olay, I've not had a Beauty Blender in 6 years. I forgot how much I love them. However, I bought a bunch once and just had a stash for years. I finally ran out and ordered this one. It's nice, new and smaller than my older ones. I'm sure it's been pointed out here. I don't have as much room on one blender to pounce on foundation, highlight, and concealer. Which is a shame, because the price remains the same.
I love the product, but would pay more for the proper size again.
My New HG for my sun damaged skin
I'm fifty four and have been blessed with good genes, and in the future, some filler, near future. I also break out. My water, locally is pH 9. Very high. I needed a toner that would combat the damage done by the water, and return my skin to a normal pH of 4.5-5.5. This does it (I have a pH meter, I used to formulate cosmetics). To be honest, since I use it every other day, until I see if my skin will dry out, I've seen improvement in my skin, the cotton ball is really dirty, even when I think my face is clean and it feels good, not overly tight, but ready for my serums and general skincare current favorites.
As of today, I love it and so do my acne prone teens. I am watching it, because I don't want my skin to flair, but I think I'm good. I am increasing it to once a day as I use it more.
Sucks up Oils
I have skin that is turning from very oily, to drier as I age. I do look young for my fifty four years, but I've had serious acne and oil for most of my life. I don't like to apply too much powder to my face, and rice powder works, but can be too much powder for my fine lines, and I need to use a ridiculous amount. This sponge is meant to be used dry to take up excess oil, usually twice a day with me. I don't need to re-apply my makeup, I don't look over-powdered and it works well.
