Beauty Product Reviews
Love it!
These two eyeshadows are perfect for an everyday look; they are long lasting, have a great texture and come with some handy brushes which I use with them.
The first shade, Golden Sand, is a lovely light champagne-like color, which goes more on the matte side but also has some tiny golden specks in them as the name says. Ive almost hit pan on this one already! The second color, Brown Earth, is a very pigmented clay color, so it seems both brown and red. Although Ive almost hit pan on Golden Sand, I barely scratched the surface of Brown Earth as Ive mentioned it is incredibly pigmented and a little goes a long way. Applying this on the crease with the pointed brush allows for great precision and really matches perfectly with Golden Sand. Highly recommend this product :)
Love it!
I absolutely love this! Its long lasting both as a lipstain and blush. On the cheeks it gives a lovely natural dewy red color to them, which of course you can build up - you have to work quickly with it though and blend, blend, blend (!) or else it dries up looking patchy.
A lovely trick I use to have the perfect doll-like look with it is after I apply 3 lines on my cheeks of this I then also add some dots of highbeam, mix it together on a tiny area of my cheek and then blend it all outwards; gives a dewyer yet subtle look!
As a lip stain the taste is pretty bad but thats the only bad thing about it. If you dont moisturize your lips then it will be very drying and look bad obviously, so hydrate those lips and exfoliate too! I dont use it as most other people do as I just apply it on the center of my lips and blend away to have a gradient effect (perfect if you love the doll lips look or want to recreate the popular korean gradient lip trend which I always do!) and set it with a gloss to blend it even further; once on your lips this will stay on for ages! Even after I eat and drink during a meal I notice that my gloss is off and my lips feel like they have nothing on at that point, but once I look in the mirror then lipstain is actually still there, not faded at all.
O.k palette - a pity
Seeing that I always go for shimmery eyeshadow, I decided to buy this palette after hearing and reading so much about it and how it is so "versatile" and a must have for its matte shades. Seeing that I already own the Naked 2 palette I really had high hopes for this product but alas, this simply does not work for me.
The first shade, Venus, is a lovely shimmery champagne color, very similar to "bootycall" but much more neutral; its the only shade that I actually use in this palette. Foxy, just like in my naked 2, is a shade which I find completely useless; since I have fair, neutral skin, this just does not show up on my skin at ALL, no matter what primer I use or the amount I apply. I was hoping WOS would make up for it and act as a "base" for the smokey eye I could create with this palette, but this shade is far too transparent and too pink for my tastes, as for a smokey eye base I prefer similar yellowish color like Foxy (that actually shows up on my eyelid), however regardless of that, its a descent base as it provides even coloring on the eyelid and hides any blueish veins and any other discoloration. The Naked 2 shade really disappointed me the most as I had high expectations for it..its difficult to blend and looks muddy on my skin. Faint is a great color which I also use for my eyebrows, its very blendable and soft, just a perfect crease color, however if I use it over WOS it clashes and looks like I got punched in the eye. Crave I dont even dare to touch, its fall out city and can ruin your whole face make up, no matter how much of the excess you tap off, far too messy and useless as its not even that intense.
Over all imo the shades in this palette do not go well together at all and I regret buying it as the only shades that work well for me are Venus and Faint; I wont ever be buying any more Urban Decay palettes as out of so many colors only a few of them actually work out for my eyelids and for the price of UD eyeshadows I expect for ALL the eyeshadows to be pigmented and blendable, not a hit or miss eyeshadow game.
Not for me - Overpowering, not sweet nor fruity
Last year I went into a Douglas store and tried out this perfume that I've heard so much about. I was excited about trying it as I heard it's "Sweet & Fruity" which is my cup of tea as I strongly dislike musky, floral scents. I tried it on in the store and loved it, it was sweet and elegant as some people described, and I could smell the vanilla and apple notes. I wore it for a few hours and came back to the store to see how the perfume changed, and it became even sweeter, yet lighter. So I purchased both the full and small size since they were on offer, plus the packaging was hard to resist seeing that purple is my favorite color!
I dont know what happened but now the scent disappoints me. After I bought it the scent wasn't the same as I tried it in the store..this time it wasn't sweet or fruity, I couldn't notice the apple or any of the other fruits in it...it became overpowering too floral. If you strongly dislike floral scents such as myself and love truly fruity an sweet scents then I do not recommend this. Such a disappointment since at first I really liked it. Now the pretty packaging just sits there on display in my bathroom, which occasionally brings me to try it again but with the same results as mentioned.
My hunt for a truly sweet and fruity perfume still goes on!
Best gel liner ever, beats high-end
I've been using this eyeliner for years now, and even though I've bought some higher end ones (like Shiseido's) I always come back to this one!
It's affordable, long lasting, has a nice rich black color which can be intensified as you wish, comes with a handy brush, doesn't dry out in it's jar ... and finally it's both smudge-proof and water-proof!
I used to wear my eyeshadow without any eye primer at all as I never had the guts to splurge on an eye primer before, but now it's an absolute must! I've been hearing about this product for years until I finally bought it last summer. It does its job for my slightly oily eyelids; making my eyeshadow long lasting and crease free.
Now, I do have some mixed feelings about this product, nevertheless I will still be repurchasing it once I finish it. I always have to be careful with this product and avoid putting on too much, otherwise my eyelids will feel very heavy and tacky, even becoming irritated at times due to how my sensitive eyes are, no matter how much I blend it out. Other times the product seems to have a very odd, unpleasant scent which sort of reminds me of white out, thus irritating my eyes, which again seems to be a result from when the product isn't blended enough. Although blending shouldn't be difficult, I find that the consistency of this product is very difficult to work with; it comes out as a thick like gel, which then when put on contact with the skin it becomes thinner and a bit more runny, yet it still doesn't seem to spread evenly and even sometimes creases, which then becomes a horrible situation as blending out the creased primer is pretty much useless because its just stuck in the skin there, and putting on eyeshadow on top will result in immediate creased eyeshadow.
Another odd issue I encountered with this product is that it really messes up my foundation if this primer is put anywhere else apart from my eyelids. An example is between my nose and inner eye corner, or even below my brow bone; these areas of my face always have foundation/concealer on them, and I find that when I put the primer on my eyelids and blend it out and accidentally smudge it out of my eyelid area and onto said areas.. it will crease my foundation terribly and leave a very dry, patchy white-ish beige area (due to the color of the primer)which is only removable with makeup remover/wipes. For someone like me which which spends a lot of time in creating a flawless make-up base, removing an area which has foundation, which also has been blended with the rest of the face makeup and set with powder, becomes very tedious and time consuming process as Id have to spend even more time to put the right amount of foundation and powder again on the removed area, blending it out to my other face makeup, al just due to a primer.
