Beauty Product Reviews
My favourite concealer!
I recently picked up a Smashbox concealer while it was on sale, but inevitably found myself coming back to this Vichy product. Even at regular prices, it retails for more than the SB, but I find it to work flawlessly with my skin.
I've had no caking whatsoever and it has paired sensationally with my BB cream (Skin79 VIP). I have acne prone skin and horrendous dark circles (especially these last few weeks), but with this concealer, I feel so much better about my face. I feel like it lets people see my eyes and the like instead of my acne.
Bright and obnoxious flash in my face? I look like a half-blinking moron, but my skin still looks pretty. That's generally how I like to test whether a concealer/foundation/cream/whatever compliments my skin. I won't upload the awful photo though. Haha.
It's hard to say anything about a scent since it really depends on how it mixes with your natural scent and skin and what you like to smell.
I loved how this smelled on me. I got compliments all day long with it.
Downside would be that, like everyone else has said, it dies out quickly. That is really unfortunate when you think of how little you actually get.
I don't wear perfume often anyway, so now it just sits on my dresser and waits for the rare nights that my boyfriend and I go to dinner and the like because at least I know it'll last long enough for us to eat.
What's up with the smell?
Pros: It did make my shadow more vivid and it did help them last longer. There also wasn't any creasing.
Cons: It caked up terribly under my eyes when I attempted to use it as a concealer. It just did not seem to work with my skin. What stops me from buying more though, is the smell. It's awful, not even because of how it smells (which is like paint, if you're wondering), but because of how strongly it smells. I thought I might've purchased one that had been on the shelf too long or something, but a friend bought one from another store and had the same issue.
Great gloss!
I own a lot of lip gloss. It's more than half my make-up collection at this point.
This line is currently my favourite. It goes on smooth, makes my lips feel soft and the Iced Pink is super feminine without being obnoxious. I'm comfortable wearing it anytime, whether at work or playing videogames with my friends. It never feels wrong to have it on.
It's also the one my boyfriend likes best. Haha. No noticeable transfer onto his lips and again, makes lips sooooo soft.
Pretty middle of the road
I picked this one up a few days ago when the pharmacy had it on sale.
You definitely have to warm it up quite a bit. It did blend quite well, but was lacking in the coverage I want/need. It does not cake as long as you use the right amount, which is very little so the stick will last for ages.
I'm probably going to go back to the Vichy dermablend one I was using before, but this one will live in my purse for touch-ups.
My absolute fave in my make-up kit!
I use the VIP Gold version of this product almost everyday.
If I'm not looking to wear make-up on a particular day, I just wear this. It has everything you could ask for. It's light and easy to apply. It's got sun protection and staying power.
I bought my first bottle over a year ago from a "Face Shop" a couple towns over, but when I needed a new one, I found shop on eBay that sends you two for the price of one and was so ecstatic to receive it and see it was the genuine article.
I have acne prone skin so I always worry about products potentially making it worse, but my skin has actually improved with this product being added into my routine.
It retails in the Face Shop for about $23 canadian and I can't stress how much I love it.
Fantastic for make-up beginners
I am make-up challenged. Seriously. I can do gore make-up and fantasy outlandish stuff very well, but when it comes to the every day stuff, I'm dumber than a door nail.
So I asked my friend Carly (who has the most flawless everyday make-up I've ever seen in person) what I should do and she suggested I start here.
I love that everything is preset to match. The brush is really great too.
When I feel like being lazy, I brush a little (very very little) it on and it sits so nicely (No caking or rubbing off). I apply a touch of the blush to my cheekbones and a little to my eyelids. It gives a really subtle, natural highlight that draws the attention to my favourite feature, my eyes.
I recommend it highly.
