Beauty Product Reviews
Pleasantly Surprised!
I got this brush with no expectations and I was blown away. Despite this densely packed buffing bursh having synthetic hairs, the brush is so soft. I experience no scratchiness at all even if I buff and tap this brush into the skin! The shape fits perfectly in my eyelid area so I can apply eye primer/concealer and it does a wonderful job. It also does a flawless job at under eye concealer too, of course this is quite small for a full face of foundation. I haven't tried but I can definitely see this working well for cream contour, blush and highlight.
Gorgeous and Gorgeous to Use
Very impressed with this set! I was quite concerned with the length as I prefer longer handles but took a risk because the value was so great for these gorgeous and masterful brushes. Personally, I don’t mind the length at all! And this is coming from a guy with big hands. I really feel as though Sonia perfected the thickness and length so it’s not too short or long for travel. I own a few small Fude brushes that don’t feel ergonomic to use with my hands because the handles are too small and thin despite being great brushes.
The Mini Base is definitely the most interesting brush in the collection, I haven’t seen this kind of shape in fude before. I was most excited for this because it looked like a fude version of the Zoeva 110 Face Shape brush. I love the 110 but wish the hairs were softer and it most definitely it is! The hairs in the mini base are airier and less resistant than the 110. Of course, with goat hair it’s going to absorb more product than synthetic. I love this brush for concealer, targeted foundation, and cream products as it blends product into the skin seamlessly with no streaks. I will be honest; this brush isn’t my end all be all brush for those jobs but it’s definitely one of my top picks. There are synthetic hairs in this brush, but I don’t notice them at all. The use for this brush is same to the Hakuhodo G5552 which is a nice brush but recently became scratchy to my skin, I like that one for liquids as it’s got a nice stipple shape.
The Jumbo Blender is another great brush. I don’t own the sky eye version, but I think this one is better. Being able to take on creams is especially nice as with liquid/cream eyeshadows you’re usually doing one and done looks which this brush excels at. Pack into the lid with the flat side and blend out the edges with the tip and you’re done! Undyed saikoho hair is more flexible and picks up more product too which I think are for the benefit of the brush.
The Classic Face can do all the jobs; bronzer, blush, powder, highlight and contour (with the last two I pinch the flat side of the hairs to help make the shape thinner). This is a very airy brush that is so soft on the skin. I prefer my Designer Pro though.
The Flat Definer and Mini Booster are both also great, I own the sky eye versions of both and prefer those ones for powder eyeshadow. I just personally like dyed goat hair over undyed. All the praises I gave both brushes in my other reviews apply to this one, with the addition that it can use cream products!
Aesthetically without a doubt these brushes are gorgeous and reading about the creation process and cultivation for the Keyaki wood was very interesting. I appreciate the amount of care and respect for every little detail Sonia put these brushes. Her respect for Japanese craftmanship is so wonderful.
Standout Multi-Use Face Brush!
In Fude, you'll find a lot of brushes with this kind of shape for the cheek area and I own a many of them and this one tops them all for it's multi-use capabilities. It really is a do-it-all brush, I can contour, blush, under-eye powder, highlight and bronze, it does it all and does it beautifully! It packs a punch but is still wonderfully soft, airy and just so mindless to use, it'll always do a bang up job no matter what I do. While it is dense it still is dyed goat hair and won't pick up as much colour as undyed goat hair does so for blushes where I want more colour this isn't my number 1 pick.
Small but Powerful!
Love this brush, it's wonderfully small and so soft. A very nice size on my small Asian eyes. This packs a lot of shimmer and I find it reduces fallout by a lot. I like that I don't have to worry as much with my looser, fallout prone shimmers now. I was pleasantly surprised that this can create a liner shape to a thin tip! Though it creates a bigger shape than what I usually prefer. It does it quite effortlessly too! It's very soft on the lash line and fits in my waterline nicely, and since it's so soft I can do minimal blending after packing on colour in those areas.
Of course this doesn't completely replace liner and pencil brushes, particularly for things like smudging out liner or eyeshadow those brushes do a better and more effortless job. Reading reviews, I thought I would have trouble adjusting with it's lip liner brush-esque, rounded shape but it didn't bother me at all.
Wow...
Wow, upon first use this became my most favourite blending brush in my entire collection. Literally the perfect handle and hair length, density, size, stiffness, shape, etc.
I've got small Asian eyes and as my small blending brush this is perfect for every job! (of course not larger brush work though) Fits perfectly in the outer V, lower lash line, inner corner, lid crease etc. I love a stiff blending brush (brush isn't stiff, but the hairs are definitely packed) and I've read Sonia prefers that too which I can see. No scratchiness or anything, the hairs are sooo soft and honestly are softer than some of my undyed goat hair brushes. This just glides seamlessly along the skin no matter how you use it.
Looking at the brush handle design in photos and videos I wasn't entirely sold. Of course they look very luxury but I thought it just wasn't my cup of tea, but in person, wow. They're even more gorgeous and luxurious looking. The blue that subtly shimmers in the light looks like an ocean trapped in the brush. I love the bump in the handle as it offers more precision and grip to how you hold it.
This is my favourite Sonia brush from the ones I have. I was a tad sceptical of Sonia's brushes, thinking how good can they really be hearing nothing but the high heavens about this brand but honestly I was blown away myself, definitely my favourite brush brand of all time now. I want more!!!
