Beauty Product Reviews
Gorgeous light coverage!
This foundation gives such a gorgeous finish. It's lightweight, comfortable to wear, & looks very natural. I have very dry skin & I'm over 40, so a lot of foundations tend to settle into lines, but this one doesn't. I will say though, if you're looking for a more full coverage look, this probably won't be for you. It's a very light coverage, & I suppose you could build it up, but I don't think you'd get much more than light-medium coverage.
A gorgeous mascara, but I think drugstore is just as good
This mascara is really beautiful. It gave me a very full, 'feathery' look, which is what I like, & it especially made my bottom lashes look insanely long. And it also stays put all day & doesn't give me racoon eyes. That being said, I really don't think there's any earth shattering difference between it & my favorite drugstore mascara (Maybelline Lash Sensational), & it seemed to slightly weigh my lashes down a bit, to where it didn't hold a curl as well as it usually does. It has a more fluffy wand, so if you prefer a smaller or thinner wand, or the type with plastic bristles, this may not be for you. But, I didn't find the size to make it messy to apply or anything like that. The packaging is absolutely stunning, very luxurious.
Doesn't stay put
This mascara initially looks gorgeous, but the problem I have with it is that I get racoon eyes within a couple hours of application. It does make my lashes look nice & full, & it looks amazing on initial application. But it just transfers too easily & gets under my eyes too quickly. And either way, even the initial effect isn't really any better than a drugstore mascara. I just use it now for if I'm just going out for a short amount of time, or just experimenting with makeup at home, but I would not repurchase.
Gives a very natural glow
This is just a beautiful product. Now that I'm over 40, I'm finding that cream products look more flattering than powder products, & this is the perfect highlight for me. It has absolutely no glitter particles, which is important to me, as I prefer a more natural glow. It blends really well, however you do have to work quickly to blend it. A little bit goes a long way, & the applicator makes it so it'd be easy to use on your face, or also on your body. I have very fair skin, & it's a really flattering shade. You could probably layer it to get a more dramatic effect, but I haven't tried that, as I prefer a more natural look.
All day hold
My brows naturally grow in an almost downward direction, & I have trouble finding a gel that keeps them upwards all day, but doesn't feel stiff. I like my brow hairs to go up, but not like straight up to where they look laminated. This is perfect, because it gives me just the right amount of lift, makes my brows fuller, & most importantly, holds all day! And it doesn't do that weird thing that some brow gels do where it can leave a residue where it looks like you have dandruff in your eyebrows.
A great every day cleanser
I have VERY dry skin, that's only gotten drier since I turned 40, & I really like how gentle this cleanser is. It's great for every day, & it doesn't make my skin feel dry afterwards. Now, it's worth mentioning that I wear very minimal makeup on a day to day basis-I don't think this is really enough on its own if you're more into very full coverage or glam looks.
Does what it says it'll do
I'm very skeptical of mineral sunscreens that claim to not leave a white cast, usually they always do (even though I'm very pale), & also have a tendency to collect in the lines on my face. This didn't leave a white cast at all, or collect in my lines. It also doesn't have that 'gritty' feel that some mineral sunscreens can have, & applied very smoothly. It felt comfortable throughout the day, & didn't dry me out. It has 13.3% zinc in it, which I thought was worth mentioning-there seems to be debate about the percentage of zinc in a mineral sunscreen & how much that matters. I can't speak on that, as I'm not a skincare expert, but I know some people want to know that info. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I did get a small amount of pilling at my hairline, but it was very minimal, & to be fair almost every sunscreen does that to me (it could possibly be other products I use). All in all, I think it's definitely worth a try.
Long lasting curl!
When I first tried this out, I'll be honest, it curled beautifully, but I didn't see a huge difference between it & my other curlers. But here's where it's different-the curl actually lasts on me! I had actually tried it on one side, & my drugstore one on one side, & at the end of the day, the Surratt side was still curled while the other side was not. The curl this gives lasts better than any curler I've tried, & it's great for days you don't want to wear makeup or even mascara, but just want to look more awake.
Easy to blend and versatile
I have this in Imperial Topaz & Pearl Moonstone, & I absolutely love the formula! Smooth & easy to blend, & on the occasion I forget primer, it doesn't crease. The finish on the shimmery shades gives the perfect amount of sheen so that it's very flattering, & not overly frosty. I just turned 40 & the skin around my eyes isn't the same as before, so this type of finish works well for me. I had assumed that I wouldn't really use the glittery shades, but I actually really like them. Not too sparkly or over the top, & look really beautiful as a topper. The matte black is smooth, & doesn't have that dry, chalky feel matte blacks can have, & it's very pigmented, but easy to blend. I like having that option so that I can add a touch to my outer corner to deepen the look for a little extra drama, or I can use it as eyeliner.
Keeps me moisturized throughout the night
I've tried many different oils, & am a fan of oils in general, but I've found with my super dry skin, the thicker oils work better for me. More affordable oils I've tried tend to be thinner, & though nice, I'd still wake up with a tight face. This oil keeps me hydrated throughout the night, which I really love. If you have very dry skin & were considering trying a GM oil, I would suggest this one over the others.
