Beauty Product Reviews
Wasteful packaging and awful taste
I was so curious to get the lip compound after so many raving reviews and honestly, I don't get the hype. At all. The regular lip compound seems to have an additional peeling component but what all three have in common is the taste which will not dissipate and linger around forever. Not worth your $$$ and I rarely have seen such a wasteful, exaggerating packaging for 3 little lip products. Beautylish shouldn't carry a product like that. A no no.
I expected more
First off: USD 79 six month ago vs USD 99 now. We don't have good access to KGD products nor do they ship to Europe. The product: hmm, I don't know what I expected after trying the Aqua foundation but I was a little bit disappointed. I have to be careful what to put underneith, which brush and most importantly, not to apply too much as it can look heavy on my skin. Maybe it is just the fact, that's it not so easy as the Aqua to work with. The product I could compare with is Cle de Peau's Radiant Cream Foundation which I prefer over the KGD, I must admit. The reason why I still give 4 out of 5 is the fact, that KGD uses GOOD ingredients. No perfume, no alcohol, etc. This gives me somehow the feeling, applying a truly good product to my skin, especially when it comes to foundation. So, I don't give up on the moisture and will still use it.
Didn't like it
French Rose: the color is not even close to what is shown online. On my lips a washed out rosy shade, not pigmented nor nourishing. Not worth the $ IMO. There are much better products in the market, especially at this price tag. 2 stars instead of 1: the packaging is nice and sturdy.
I own all of the shades...
... because to me and for my purpose it is the perfect liquid eyeliner. Long lasting, but not heavy, delivers the right amount of color and easy to apply. Note, that it will not hold up sweat or a helmet after a Bike Tour, on my lids at least, but for the normal, every day use I could not imagine any better. I prefer them over the Suqqu liners, although these are mainly "special shades". This is my best pick out of Surratt so far. I am looking forward to getting my first brush from them.
Favorite light weight skin like foundation
Couldn't agree LESS with other reviews lowering the Aqua against the Moisture foundation. I own and tested both of them. For my 47 years old combination normal skin this is the best foundation for days, I don't seek for high coverage and develops during the day so nicely and with a glorious finish. And: no special priming needed, a little bit of setting with Chantecaille powder as the shade is a tad too light and I feel comfortable for a perfect easy make up day. The shade range is tricky, but researching thoroughly before ordering helped a lot. One thing to note regarding the price: half a year ago I paid USD 77 versus the USD 96 indicated now.
Ultra-Soft AND efficient? Yes!
After trying a couple of Kitsch products I confess to be a fan of them. In the meantime I do have 4 hear bands, all ordered with Beautylish, and I wanted to give these microfibre towels a try. My best friends uses Halo, which I perceived a little bit too strong for daily use and when I saw these: ok, let's try.
The towel is incredibly soft, but in the same time extremely efficient yet no peeling/scrubbing effect to them on a daily use base. I don't know how others do skincare but I am not interested in a daily peeling, so I do appreciate a soft, but effective removal of the entire make up. I use a great make up remover from Giorgio Armani, nevertheless there is always a bit of make up left, being this in the hairline or in the jaw area. This towel will make the it go away.
Now, some prefer white over black fibre and I thought so too. After using these for a couple of weeks, it doesn't bother me at all. After the first time, I washed them there was not much of black fibres left and I am pretty sure, that there won't be any at all going forward.
As an additional plus: they have a good size to be used multiple times... I definitely will order a second pair of the Kitsch Ultra-Soft (it truly is!) Microfibre Make-up Removing Towel:-).
too heavy
I received a sample from Beautylish and my hair looked shiny and stunning after the use of the Oribe Gold Lust Shampoo and their conditioner.
When I ordered the middle size it turned out, that my hair felt very heavy after a couple of hours and my scalp produced much more grease than it usually does.
I might use it as a mask overnight but it is somehow a disappointing experience between the sample (I used three times to test) and the actual product size. I should have probably ordered the smallest size.
Small size
I am glad that I only purchased the small size. The perception of a good or bad scent is individual and to me it just smelled bad and didn't have an effect.
I was looking for a small size of setting spray (I have never used one before) to apply glitter shades and it has had no positive impact at all. After that I tried it as an actual setting spray... sorry, I pass on that product, as I prefer to touch up rather than use this particular Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray.
Really? Why would Oribe do this?
I hate to give one star but I don't get it.
Purchased a couple of months ago, I tried the serum on damp, dry, middle-dried hair... nothing worked out for me except for a super dry and frizzy finish of my healthy, normal looking hair.
Why did I buy the serum: one super review in addition to their gorgeous smelling products (I really DO like the Oribe scent - I even purchased the perfume...). I wanted to see if there is an alternative to my super performing, but quite bad smelling gel serum I have been using for 20 years.
The packaging is huge. Tons of product. But I can't use it. And I trusted Nina's advice to use only a litte. I did.
Last weekend, I took the tube to my hairdresser and I asked one of the salon owners with her lovely curly hair to try the Oribe Serum hoping, she could use it. It was a clear no from her. She applied a tiny bit and after a few minutes she said, please touch my hair (she really has thick, strong hair) and they were super dry.
Not sure, if it's only my item not performing but I can't think of another option than simply throwing away USD 65 for a Hair Gel.
Can you believe that?
They smudge (on my lids)
Colors are beautiful and agree with others, that they go on smoothly. But they don't stay put.
I tried pencils from Pat McGrath and I get along with them much better than Wayne's pencils. I rarely "paint" my waterline but the upper lash line and occasionally the lower, and it will get creasy if not smudged right away. Not for me, unfortunately.
