To start in the winter months my skin tone is pretty fair & normally with any bronzer the lighter shade is what I need. It’s harder to choose online when pictures can be so different than the actual product. So with that in mind I purchased the light & medium palettes to find the right match. The lighter shade is a complete mystery to me. At first it seemed like there was zero pigment to it so I attempted to build it up. It took about 3 swipes to actually show the color only for it to look grey. It actually makes me look like I’m sick. I truly don’t know who this would look good on. The medium shade is where it’s at. It’s stunning on my fair skin and currently one of my top 5 favorite powder bronzers. Unless you have a sickly grey undertone I would skip this one.
I absolutely love this blush. The formula is amazing. Easy to pick up on a brush & applies so smoothly. It blends so beautifully into the skin with no effort. Dry skin friendly, high pigment & long lasting. They have become some of my most used powder blushes. Don’t let the shades scare you. Even the brightest ones look fantastic regardless of skin tone if you start light & build it up. The price point is excellent for the quality & amount of product in the pan. Highly recommend.
The set is as functional as it beautiful
When I originally purchased this set it was mainly because I liked the looks of it. However after using it for the last week I have to say I’m impressed. All 3 brushes in the set are not only beautiful but very functional. I was able to easily use just these 3 brushes to complete my makeup routine. The large eye brush can be used for all over Laydown, blending & crease work. The smaller one for liner & detail work. It also fill in the brows nicely. The face brush is the standout of the set. The unique shape of the brush head makes it very multi functional. I was able to use it for all over powder, blending, bronzer, blush & highlighting. All are well made and beautifully crafted. The brushes did bleed a bit during the first few washes but after that they were fine. No excessive shedding or other issues. All in all a solid set of brushes for a reasonable price point that are also beginner friendly. If you can find them in stock you better snatch up a set because they won’t be there long.
I’ve been waiting for a very long time for Sonia G to finally release brushes with something other that goat hair. Don’t get me wrong. I have all her brushes and they’re great but the last thing I need are more goat hair brushes. When I learned these would be made with Canadian Squirrel I knew I had to have them. It’s my go to for eye brushes. Canadian Squirrel is so soft yet has great pickup & incredible color payoff with little effort. The wood handles & black ferrule makes for a stunning combination. Well made like all Sonia G brushes they only get better with age. I hope to see more brushes with squirrel hair in the future.
What a gem!
I adore the Koyudo Fu-Pa series brushes and have many of them in my collection. It’s a tragedy they were either discontinued or are now synthetic. Just not the same at all. The main reason I was drawn to this particular brush was its similarity to the Fu-pa brushes. I hesitated to purchase mainly because of the heart shaped brush head. I’ve had a few of Koyudo’s heart shaped brushes over the years and none of them were anything to write home about. Scratchy and sparse. They weren’t very functional and just not great brushes. Then there was the “leather like” look in the description that was a bit of a turn off tbh. After using this brush for about a week now I can honestly say it’s quite the gem! It’s sized like a Fu-Pa making it feel nice and sturdy in the hand. Perfectly balanced and perfectly bundled. Soft is an understatement. It is one of the softest Saikoho goat brushes I’ve come across in a long time. The heart shaped brush head doesn’t impact application at all. You can’t even feel it when using it on the face. The brush head is round in shape and is basically the Fu-Pa 01 with a twist. The Leather like look is actually very attractive in hand and and does not look cheaply made at all. It’s also a multitasking beast. Easily used with foundation, powder, bronzer, blush or highlighter. It’s a great brush to throw in your bag for touch ups or take for travel. Don’t let the shape of the brush head scare you off. This is one of the best brushes Koyudo has put out (in goat hair) for quite some time. Well worth the price. Photo shows comparison with Fu-Pa 02 & Fu-Pa LMV (01) for size comparison.
When I ordered this set I wasn’t entirely sure I really needed it and doubted I would use them very often as I rarely use creams on the eye area. I debated with myself but in the end purchased it mainly because I don’t have a lot of goat/synthetic mix brushes and figured what the heck. I also have all the other Sonia G brushes release to date in my collection aside from these. The Fusion Series is a favorite of mine. They are always in my brush rotation and I use at least one of the face brushes daily. I have been experimenting with this new eye set since it was delivered about a week ago and have to say I really enjoy them. I’ve used them far more than I thought I would. They work as well with powder products as they do with creams. The brushes are not only attractive but very functional as well. All are soft, easy to clean and I’ve had zero shedding issues. Well work the price.
I’ve been a fan of the Wayne Goss brush line since it was released many years ago. I’ve since added every brush he’s released including the holiday ones to my personal collection. The #13 is probably my most used Wayne Goss brush out of his entire collection. I actually prefer it to my Hakuhodo J210. It’s softer and fluffier. Like the description says it’s just a workhorse of a brush that can handle whatever you throw at it be it cream or powder with ease. If needed I can do my entire face with just this brush. Foundation, powder, bronzer, blush or all over blending. It cleans easily and retains it shape. I have 3 of the #13 brushes, the original dyed version along with 2 of these and I’ve personally never had any issues with shedding on any of them aside from the normal amount that you get from any goat brush with this density. The more it’s used the better it gets. It’s unfortunate Wayne has decided to discontinue this brush line. I highly recommend buying one before they are sold out as they will not be restocked.
The Koyudo Yoshiki Medium eyeshadow brush is one of my all time favorites. Super soft. It never irritates the eye area. A fabulous multitasking eye brush. If you have hooded lids it makes for an amazing crease brush. It is pointed enough for detail work or lining the eyes and be used for smudging. On its side it can easily color the lid. A solid all in one. I keep one in my go bag and it’s all I need for a quick eye look. In a pinch I can use it for detail highlighting and nose contour. Washes easily and retains it shape. Mine have been washed many times over the last year and the hair is still as soft as the first day I used it. Highly recommend.
This is one of my all time favorite Sonia G brushes and one of the few I would replace in a heartbeat if needed. I have both versions of this particular brush. The original version and the latest with the diamond shape. I had already fallen in love with the original one I had been using for a long time when I decided I wanted a back up. When I discovered the change in manufacturing I was hesitant to buy it but went with it. I may be in the minority here but after using the newest version for several months now believe it’s a much better brush than the original. Yeah! I said it! I was shocked how much I loved this. Don’t get me wrong. The original is still a great brush. It was my favorite until I tried this one. Now I rarely use it. Speck wise it’s the same. The only thing that changed was the hair source used by the newer manufacturer. Whatever the reason this latest version has more spring to it, a much more rounded airy head and a slight difference in drag. All mixed together it makes for a fabulous multitasking face brush! I love using this with my Wayne Goss bronzers & blushes. It leaves such a beautiful glow. At the end of the day it’s a great brush regardless of which version you have but if you were holding off due to the change i wouldn’t sweat it. In this case change means good.
I absolutely love this foundation for summer. While my skin tends to lean towards the dry side it can become a bit oily in the T-zone. Foundation can be a bit tricky with dry skin especially the Hourglass ones. That being said skincare is key! After applying my serums I use Tatcha’s The Water Cream moisturizer for a soft dewy finish. For primer I’ve been using either Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas or Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Power Essence Primer. I’ve tried many different ways to apply this foundation. With fingers, sponge and brushes with various hair types and found that using a duo-fiber brush works best, at least for me. I like the Sonia G Jumbo Base, Rephr 31, Armani Face Blender or the Eihodo 307. A sponge works but sheers out the application quite a bit. Unless your skin is textured or flaking I recommend using a brush first then smoothing out with a sponge if needed. Apply in sections. This sets fairly quickly and is not very forgiving. Texture wise it’s more on the creamy side. Easily build to full coverage. Lots of pigment in this stuff! The first time I used this I thought it wasn’t going to work for me. It seemed to make my skin look dry and almost mask like. Almost washed it off. However as crazy as it sounds an hour later looked amazing and only looked better as the day went on. Longevity wise this stuff is like a dream. It’s a true Longwear foundation. I put it to the test in the hot and humid Kansas heat and it exceeded my expectations. I sweat my butt off all day, went swimming and not once did I reapply but at the end of the day still looked great! Highly recommended.
