Beauty Product Reviews
I wanted to love it, but I couldn't
This creases in under a minute of wear on me, which absolutely sucked. I have super dry skin, and I felt like this was really oily. I think it has coconut oil in it, which my blush has, but I seem to have way more issues with this. Doesn't matter how many times I smooth it out, it is just a bummer. Also, the shade range isn't great. 000 has the right degree of being fair, but the undertone is a little more yellowy than I am. 00 has the right amount of pink but isn't fair enough.
Bioderma for the win for those with sensitive skin!
I will say, this product does look very clinical in its unassuming pink and white tube. The tube is small, but the product is inexpensive and a little goes a long way. This has really changed my skin. My eczema has been horrendous this year, and this has helped so much with my flaky patches. It has also made my pores smaller, and the congestion in my pores finally be able to clear out (an esthetician told me she couldn't get a lot of my blackheads out because my skin was so dry. This finally did the trick!).
I want MORE
This is the most beautiful shade. I would definitely say it is berry, but with some copper tones. It is like the millennial version of that brick red/brown lipstick we have all seen pictures of our mothers wearing in the 90s. The shade is perfect; it is dark(ish) if you have fair skin, but doesn't overwhelm the rest of your features like a true red does. Can be worn everyday without looking or being high maintenance so to speak (I love a good red, but they can be high maintenance/bold!).
The formula is light- almost gel like? Usually, mattes feel overwhelming and drying, but this didn't. It was feather light, stayed like a dream without touchups through a job interview, followed by a lunch date, and past dinner. I think I may buy another color! Also no lip liner necessary.
A little overpriced, but excellent design
I really like this. Does a $12 case seem ridiculous for a makeup sponge that was already $20? Absolutely. BUT, that being said, I really like the design of this. The holes for drying the blender sponge are awesome; I love that I can throw the sponge in wet. Also I hated throwing the blender unprotected into my makeup drawer. Problem solved; it just didn't seem sanitary for it to be touching any and everything else in the drawer.
I wish there was a smaller, cheaper version for one sponge only. Otherwise no complaints!
My go-to
I started using this on a volunteer trip in Australia in the woods, and I haven't stopped since. It is like Aquaphor but better/more natural. I love it as a lip balm, on cuticles, on scrapes, etc. I don't use it on bug bites as much as I use it as a skin protectant; it won't relieve itch, but it does protect and nourish the skin. I would even use it as a first aid balm over leach bites before bandaids (yes, leeches. Gross, I know. I had the strongest stomach of the group so that duty fell on me).
I am all about multi-tasking products (in an effort to pair down) and this does the job. Plus the bright red tube is easy to locate in your purse... big bonus!
Meh.
Honestly, the only reason this is getting 3 stars is that others seem to love it- I can somewhat see why. The formula texture is really interesting; it is light and almost fluffy? I think the packaging is fairly clever and the sponge actually does a fair amount of blending, unlike Touche Eclat, where I always have to go in with a beauty blender or my finger. (although I will say touche eclat doesn't give a ton of coverage, but I like the more natural look).
I have two main issues with this: 1. I picked the wrong shade. That's shame on me. 2. This product creases *instantly* under my eyes. I am talking in the first 2 minutes of wear. No amount of resmoothing seemed to fix the issue for me, but this is a relatively common issue for me because my eyes get really slim and crinkly when I smile. If you don't have this issue, I would recommend giving this a try!
