Beauty Product Reviews
If Only, if only...
I love almost everything about this product. Almost. The coverage is about medium, which is great because I want to even out my skin while still looking a like a real person. The formula is not too liquidy but not drying at all, which is great because that means it will work with almost any applicator (brush, sponge, fingers, whatever). It's oil-free, which means my nose and forehead don't turn into beacons for wayward ships by the end of the day. It doesn't have SPF, which for some might be bad because of health reasons, but I actually prefer it that way because i usually like to wear full makeup at night when I go out so I can take lots of pictures with my friends; SPF makes you look unnaturally white in a camera flash, so if I need SPF, I'll just mix it in myself. So why give it four stars??? Because it oxidizes on my tan skin. I know it's not all the foundation's fault, but I wish cosmetics companies would do something about this issue. People with more pigment in their skin will definitely have a problem with makeup oxidizing and becoming darker as it sits on the skin. When I purchased the bottle, the product looked a shade or so lighter than my face, but as I blended it out on my face, it became darker. No bueno. I haven't tried this with a primer yet, so maybe I will do that and revisit, but until then....*sad face*
Good product...most of the time.
I have a few of these and I must say, they are nifty and quite multipurpose. They can be used for highlighting, eyeshadow base, pout-perfecting, and as a mix-in for your foundation to give you an extra dewy look. Plus, the product lasts forever once you get it on your skin. The reason I don't absolutely love it or reach for it often is that it is hard to blend in sometimes because it dries so fast. I end up looking splotchy unless I work super fast and know exactly where I want the product to go, which I don't always. Also, since a teeny tiny bit goes a long way, I usually end up with way too much which can make you look greasy or super metallic. The other thing I have to point out is that the formula is not always consistent with each tube. I have opened a couple of brand new tubes to find shimmery water spewing out no matter how much I tried to mix up the product. It can be quite a mess. However, it is only a dollar, and I recommend getting one from target before you try ordering online because at least you don't have to pay shipping.
