Beauty Product Reviews

Okay, not great.

I ran out to buy this palette as soon as I saw it released on the Sephora website. In fact, I got it before it was out on display thanks to the lovely store associates. While I like and use this palette, I think that it is dupable and if you're working off of a budget or looking for a one stop shop palette, you should look elsewhere.

The So-so: The container for this palette is super cute! I have the originally packaging which is a bit large, but tin and sturdy. I've taken this traveling and haven't had to worry about damage. However, my largest pet peeve is when the names aren't on the package; I don't know why because having the name doesn't change how I feel about or use the colors, but I can't stand it when the names aren't there. Too Faced decided that instead of printing the names on the package it would give you a ridiculous plastic sheet insert with the names. Lord only knows where these are now.

The Good: These eyeshadows smell amazing. Chocolate Bar certainly isn't a misnomer. They make me think of hot chocolate. These shadows last roughly a full 9 hour work day on me over a primer. I don't wear eyeshadows without primer, so I couldn't tell you what the wear time is without. After nine hours I get fading and slight creasing. The colors are excellent for my coloring, light to medium skin, neutral undertone, brown eyes, and black hair. Most of the shadows are well pigmented and apply smoothly, as one would expect from Too Faced.

The Ugly: Two shades in particular are awful. Strawberry Bon Bon which is patchy and Candied Violet which is sheer. Beyond that I think that this palette could have benefited from a warmer dark brown shade as the dark brown provided in the palette leans cool and I found the rest of the palette leaned pretty warm. I also wished that there was an antique gold color in the palette, kind of like MAC's patina.

Overall I think this is a good palette to add to a collection, but only if you like warm colors and have other palettes to supplement this one.

Nothing beats the original.

Often copied, but never bested; this was my first high end eye shadow palette and while I have gone on to purchase many others I always come back to the original Naked palette. I know some find it lacking mattes or feel like it has chunky glitter, but the colors perfectly complement my complexion and eye color. The palette is so versatile, I can make office appropriate day time looks, gorgeous glowy bronze goddess looks, and perfect night out smoldering smokey eyes. This is my desert island staple.

Excellent product, poor packaging.

I really love this product; being mixed race I often have a hard time finding my perfect foundation color match. On top of that, I am incredibly fair in the winter and wind up very tan in the summer, usually this means I have bottles and bottles of foundation on my vanity. This product stops that; it helps me color match my summer foundations to my winter skin tone and vice versa. This also ups the coverage of my sheerer base favorites like the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer when I want something with a light feel but need to up the coverage. The one con to this product is that the dropper bottle gets messy fast, but that's usually the case with dropper products.
