Hi Montana. I noticed your post on scar reduction yesterday because I put up one last Monday on the exact same subject after a weekend visit to the ER left me with 12 stitches in my face. Most people recommended Mederma (the cream, NOT the gel), but today, I went to have my stitches taken out by the plastic surgeon who put them in. He prescribed a silicone based gel (with added SPF 30) called "bioCorneum" and told me to apply it to the scar twice daily for 3 months. It's not cheap (a 20g tube set me back $65), but it is available without prescription at CVS (or so he said) and is supposed to be the best possible stuff available to help minimize scars as they heal. Just thought I'd pass my newly acquired knowledge along to you, since I was in your place just 1 week ago. Hope this is helpful!
