Beauty Product Reviews
Excellent face brush
This is a stellar brush for diffusing and blending any powders on the face. It is called a ‘cheek’ brush but I have used it with blush, bronzer, loose face setting powders and even a bit of a highlight. I have the Chikuhodo eye shadow brushes and I adore how soft they are, yet pick up product, place and diffuse perfectly. They create an effortless soft finish with even the most tricky of products. I always wanted a face brush from this artisanal brand and finally decided on this one, which was a big leap honestly as it costs quite a bit for one brush. I absolutely adore it. the way the brush adapts to my face is perfect, it is incredibly soft, well made and actually really does the blending for me. I have a set of Wayne Goss and Sonia G brushes which I love, but this is truly next level to have a grey squirrel hair brush as a face brush instead of goat (dyed or not) for powders. The way it applies products is similar to my Wayne Goss #2 (blue squirrel hair) and the Wayne Goss holiday “airbrush” , but obviously quite a bit larger.. which is fabulous for covering large areas with bronzer or setting powder. The tapering at the end makes this a highly versatile brush. You can literally use all “sides” of it for every part of your face. High quality investment, incredibly pleased.
Fantastic Buffing brush- perfect for all types of powders. As others have noted it isn’t “too small”... it really does seamlessly blend together all powders (setting powder, bronzer, blush) perfectly without lifting the base or blending away too much product. It feels fantastic too. I love the medium density of the brush. I have the “Face 2” and I love that but this brush does really buff in better. The alternate lengths of the individual hairs on the outside really help with the blending, but it’s still soft.
Excellent shape for under the lower lashes and inner corner
As the title suggests, I love this brush's shape- it is just still enough to hold its shape but soft enough not to "poke" in sensitive areas. It is perfect for inner corner highlights and also for laying down product right under the lower lash line- it's a great brush and a perfect addition to my collection. It's an essential detail brush.
Daily bronzer/powder/all over color
This is a back up because I think KA is getting rid of this product and about half the collection. It is a large product at .74oz; but I've hit pan on it and am almost done with the large bar after using it for almost a year. I wanted to make sure I have a few more years of usage before this is eliminated from the collection.
So what makes it great? The subtle gradation that I use as a base- either alone or beneath my bronzer, blush and maybe highlighter. It is a subtle peachy/bronze color that has a sophisticated shimmer (no glitter!) and I take my large tapered Wayne Goss 00 brush and swipe it down the entire brick and then sweep it over the top/sides of my forehead, up my cheeckbones, across my nose and then go in for more of the "highlighter" part at the top on the top of my cheekbones.
It is a one and done product for me- whip on mascara, maybe some under eye concealer, comb my brows, gloss and done.
It is also a great base if I want to go in with a darker bronzer or a brighter/less subtle highlighter and mixes well with both powder and some cream blushes (specifically Patrick Ta and Glossier cloud paint).
I've never hit pan on a powder product- I love how it gives my face color/warmth without having to be precise. In fact, although I love my WG brush, I could probably get away with any large fluffy brush for the same effect- I just adore the effortless precision of that brush. I recommend this product if you have my skin tone- buy it before it gets discontinued!
Beautiful, but not worth the $65
I love TF products and I really enjoy their cream eyeshadows (as well as their powder quads). I had this in and out of my cart so many times, along with the bronze one. While I don't regret the purchase, it really isn't that special. As another commenter said, this is great for creating a sophisticated look on the go (for travel- remember when we could do that?) but for home it would be better to buy a quad for the money. I completely agree. While the base peach/pink is sophisticated, lovely and easy to apply- I can't help but feel I have this shade in about a million other palettes at home. I just purchased PML Divine Rose II and I feel that this is sort of a dupe of her shades. The payoff of the shimmer on top is fine. It's not PML or ND fabulous.. it is just a bit of sparkle. The whole look is extremely subdued, which is fine. It's very beautiful. It just doesn't merit $65. I have the quads which are $80 (or $88?) and they give me so much more product to play with. Or if you want something beautiful and shimmery - the duochromes in PML mothership palettes are amazing (not so travel friendly, but so much more to play with for less than the price of two of these TF products) and even the ND palettes give more. Again, it's pretty and in these tricky times lacking beauty and fun, it made me happy, so that's great. But if you are on the fence, this is a hard pass, check out one of TF pigmented and stunning quads or if you're into the sparkles... go with PML.. those are legendary and buildable.
Best lip gloss on the market. The brush allows for easy and precise application. I love the formula - it applies evenly, is never sticky or goopy, and gives a true sophisticated shine to your lips. No glitter here! I’ve been using these for almost a decade and just stocked up on the Rose Quartz and Tourmaline, because I heard sisley was discontinuing this line. It makes me so sad. I have almost all the colors and they are perfect on their own, paired with a lip liner or for added dimension for a lipstick.
This bronzer is extremely finely milled (akin to the CT pressed face powder) and you get a lot more- it’s substantially larger than her other pressed powders. I am “Fair 3” in CT foundation and “Fair 1” in the powder; so I’m glad I read the reviews and went for Medium in the bronzer. It’s a matte bronzer that doesn’t pull orange nor is it necessarily very warm - yet it’s not too cool or muddy... it feels really natural. It does take a bit of time to build up on the skin and if I need a quick glow I have a feeling I will reach for my Tom Ford terra or Kevyn AuCoin tropical days.. but if I want a matte, light “natural” warmth to my skin, this really does it. The addition of hyraulonic acid (not sure the amount) into the powder really seems to smooth out the texture of my skin. To try out the product I used it on bare skin (moisturized and with SPF, but no base) and I loved the blurring effect it had on my skin. Truly a beautiful formula. My other go-to bronzers have exceptional “bronzing” qualities but this one seems to have a unique formula which is light weight and gives an airbrushed effect. I haven’t tried it on my body, but I generally prefer a sparkly bronzer for my collar bone and shoulders. This truly surprised me as a product- CT can be hit or miss but this was a definite hit. The packaging is stunning too- very large mirror which would be great for travel.
After 3 years of sitting on my shelf, I finally gave up. For context, I am a sisley devotee - both of their skincare and of some of their iconic products. This was a fail that I tried to make work. As the other commenter noticed- this doesn’t stay. It doesn’t even blend appear on my cheeks (and I’m extremely fair and this is a bright color!). I tried warming up on my fingers and tapping it, then setting it; I tried with a stipple brush, I even tried just drawing a stripe straight on my face and blending/ tapping it in. Zero color payoff.. and the minute payoff that was there looked like some dirty ruddy color- not true to the product. I won’t be buying anymore and sadly finally tossed it in the trash! Better cream blush products I’ve used are from by Terry (glacée cheek and the new cc blush in a pump), as well as the OG Nars multiples (still iconic and long lasting) as well as the new Patrick Ta blushes. Even the Fenty sticks (hard to use) had more color payoff and lasted longer. That said - if you want to stick with a sisley product for blush I highly recommend the “L’orchidée rose” blush. It is stunning , lasts all day, beautiful light color that is extremely flattering and lasts all day. I’ve had that blush for years and it doesn’t even look like I’ve had it a month. Love that product.
Wow- sets everything and it doesn't budge in humid weather
I usually don't use a setting powder, but this translucent powder doesn't change the tone of the look or blend out any of the blush/bronzer etc. It's so hot and humid outside and I put this on top of my makeup and even after a sweaty day (with a mask on outside) my makeup is set and doesn't transfer. It's a clear coat that doesn't dry out the skin or show texture- just locks in the look. I love it -it's a staple now! As for the primer- I am still trying it out.. it's a nice bonus.
First purchase of Wayne Goss Brushes- changed my makeup forever!
I loved Wayne Goss videos on Youtube and this was my first purchase of his brushes (I later purchased his eye set and individual face brushes). This set is absolutely a fantastic all around kit. The foundation brush blurs cream, liquid and powder products perfectly into the skin. The face and eye brushes are so soft yet pick up product and place it perfectly on the skin. I absolutely love these brushes and they have completely changed my makeup routine as blending out eyeshadow and blending base products, blush, bronzer etc. is SO EASY.
Makeup is so expensive and it seems like such a splurge to spend on quality brushes (and soap and brush guards- buy those to keep this set perfect); but at the end of the day it completely changes the amount of time, effort and the overall effect of the products. I get compliments on my "natural" makeup all the time, which I attribute directly to the tools I use (i.e. these brushes).
