Beauty Product Reviews
Impactful yet Sophisticated
Prettiest highlight I have used. The shimmers are so reflective and the shine is kilo watt. It's like fine crusted diamond dusted on my skin. It has a transparent base, so it won't look powdery. I compared it with all the other highlighters, and Wet Dream eclipsed them all. It is a stunning shimmer on the eyes, too. I am so glad I purchased this.
Love this
I love shimmers and sparkly things, and if you can relate, you might love this quad as well. They all have a near transparent color base. The shimmers (close to fine glitters) are so stunning, but they don't last long on m y eyes. But I still love this quad. It is perfect for me to do a single all-over-wash look.
Such delicate work
There oughtta be better camera technique for filming. I have checked many review videos on youtube for this palette, and they don't do any justice ┐(´д`)┌
The packaging is strewn with red glitters, pretty! When I opened the palette, the colors in the pans look dull. But when I tapped into them, the powders are so fine and the effect is elegant. At first, I was a bit concerned with the Confident Eyes color combination because they look too purple in the pan, but they have more of a brownish tone, which is so flattering. Honestly, I don't think I'll need another CT eye palette now I have this one. Thank you for this great palette!
Fave blush brush
I agree with one of the reviews I've seen that with so many blush brushes, do I still need one more? The answer is definitely Yes! I have been using flat brushes for blush all my life, and have never liked how blushes look on my face. This one is so soft and precise, I can control really well where to place the blush pigment and the soft hair allows me to blend the powder into such a fine layer of translucent color. This is probably my favorite Sonia G. brush (I own 4 of her face ones).
Somehow lack-luster
I don't get this formula. The shadows are easy to blend enough, but sometimes hard to pick up with my brush. My favorite color in this palette is Moonstone because it has the prettiest sheen. All the other ones look like oxidized metal (I know the middle one is called 'Oxide', but still) and quite lack-luster. The sheen in them is oddly unflattering, especially on dry eyelids. I am quite disappointed with these shadow formulas. I guess these shadows are to be paired with other ones besides the ones in here, since there is not really a liner shade (both Cool Plum and Oxide are only medium dark). Usually with other bronzy eyeshadows, I can create looks I like with one or two colors washed over my lids. Not with the colors in this palette. I am quite disappointed they look oddly dull on the lids.
I have given this palette so many tries, but the colors just don't perform. There is not enough color pay off, and the shimmer is dull. I can pile the shadows on my lids, only to have them disappear after 10 munites. I am not sure if I want to return this palette (international order) or just keep it as a reminder to never buy her shadows again.
Nice design
I bought this mainly to use the fluffy side for my loose setting powder. It is a pretty nice design. The long hair on the fluffy side grabs enough powder for me to lightly bake my face. It is very nice to apply a thin layer as well. The tapered shape makes it very easy to place my powder precisely on the inner corner areas around my eyes, the sides of my nose, my hairlines and temples.
When placing my powder I like a puff like this, because brushes would grab onto the moisture from my sunscreen or other skin products on my face and I usually end up applying too much powder or disturbing what's under my powder. I actually only have another puff (a big and luxurious one) to apply my powder on, and that's the reason I got this one so I may wash one of them up. I actually prefer this one over the other one because of the long hair. Love.
Dim Light is oddly orangey on my face
I was so excited about this purchase because according to the Hourglass tutorial, I am supposed to "Dust Dim Light all over the face with a powder brush, focusing on the center of the face to soften imperfections." That was a disaster when I did that. I don't have the fairest skin tone, but Dim Light instantly deposits orange patches on my face, making my face two shades darker, and it did *not* soften imperfections, at least not up close when I check myself in the mirror. Dim Light is dark and orange enough for me to be used as blush, and it is too orange to be used as bronzer. I just can't use this powder alone. It can only be used mixed with Incandescent Light, for which I am quite disappointed.
Incandescent Light is quite nice. I can brush it all over my face or use a stronger hand for a pretty strobing.
Radiant Light is a nice contour indeed. It adds a nice golden shine, at the same time adding dimension to the face depending on which angle you are looking.
Nice balance
I was a bit skeptic because I am Asian and have smaller eyes, there might not be enough "play space" around my eyes for these seemingly large brush heads. But the bristles on have quite a "give" while being so soft on the touch, allowing precise color placement while being gentle on the lids. Not the softest I've used, but the balance between soft and stiff is nice.
