Beauty Product Reviews

It’s a little difficult for me to get a gradient effect with this product

I have been trying for a while to do a quick and easy gradient effect with this product using the #14 brush, and once in a while I’ll get it, but then most of them it doesn’t happen. I feel like I spend way too much time applying this, which I don’t want to do. I prefer Anastasia’s Brow Powder Duo to the Dip Brow. It just easy and quick to apply. When I can get a gradient effect, it does look very nice.

It’s a good brow product that’s easy to work with

I bought this along with the Anastasia Dip Brow and the #14 brush. After many trials, I prefer this one to the Dip Brow. It’s very easy and quick to apply this. I just wish the pictures were more color accurate, because it’s lighter than what’s shown. I have medium to dark brunette hair, and Chocolate is a little too light, but that’s a very minor issue.

It’s not light enough for fair skinned people

When is the entire beauty industry going to take the initiative to create products for the very fair skinned and the very dark skinned? Some companies do, but it’s not enough. The whole industry should be doing it already! It’s 2018! I didn’t have to open the palette to see this wasn’t going to work for my very fair skin. I started out in 1989 having to wear makeup that was way too dark for my face, and today I can’t even find a highlighting concealer light enough for me (not that that was what I bought this palette for). Utterly disappointed!

Good low strength retinol in Squalane

I have very dry and sensitive skin, so I picked a low strength retinol to use about 2 times a week (if I remember) rotating with other The Ordinary products. I have very few fine lines and visible “Crow’s Feet” if I smile. It does a good job at keeping further fine wrinkles at bay, but it has not corrected the ones I have. Perhaps I need to move up my usage or up the strength? I love the benefit of hydration from the Squalane though. I actually use the stand alone Plant Squalane product quite a bit. I would suggest this product for those with very few fine lines and no visible wrinkles (smiling or not) as a preventative measure.

Great for use when my skin gets dry patches

I have very dry and sensitive skin and I use this product in two ways. One as part of my own Th Ordinary skin routine, to eliminate dry patches, and I mix a few drops of this with my beloved full coverage matte foundation brand, so that it doesn’t stick to any dry patches. Great product that has multiple uses!

Perfect for quick removal of acne marks!

I have very dry and sensitive skin, and I have been using this product once a week to polish it up. It’s been miraculous how well and how quickly it has removed acne marks from a recent bad hormonal imbalance. I saw the improvements to my skin rather fast, instead of waiting a year for the marks to go away on their own. I love the texture of my skin after using this. It’s baby soft and does not have a hint of dryness. I keep this stocked along with my other favorite products from The Ordinary.

Excellent product for those with dry skin

I purchased this over a month ago, and can finally review it with my honest opinion. I have hypothyroidism, so my skin is very dry. It is great at moisturizing, without leaving your face greasy. I have two skin care routines going right now with The Ordinary's products, and I'm not ready to fully write about both yet. With this one, I simply wash my face with a moisturizing cleanser, put this product on dry skin and wait 15 minutes, then add my current moisturizer and wait another 15 minutes and spray rose water over my entire face. I wake up with moisturized skin, which is hard to accomplish when you have hypothyroidism and are in the middle of winter. I'm looking for it to return to Beautylish! I'm almost out! As a closing note, my dermatologist has approved all products I'm using from The Ordinary.

I'm not liking this foundation

I tried sponging it on with and without primer, and applying with my favorite brush, with and without primer, and it starts to settle in very fine lines and then goop up on my face. I have sensitive skin that is normally dry, but I've been able to keep it hydrated, and have current acne problems that I haven't had since my 20s (15 years ago...) if that helps anyone. The 1.0NS color works on my very fair skin, but nowhere do I see shimmer in this color as it states. It's pretty matte and uniform to start, and then hours later it looks oily, and I don't have oily skin at all. I think I'll stick to my current favorite: Wet N Wild's PhotoFocus Foundation. It stays on over 12 hours with just Milani's Make it Last Primer and Setting Spray and a setting powder.. Plus it looks flawless and the coverage is better.

I think it’s a great product for younger women

I bought these because Desi Perkins had used them in one of her tutorials. It looked beautiful on her. I couldn’t see from the tutorial that the glitter was as chunky as it is. It’s an overwhelming look for women my age (I’m 40). I do recommend this for younger women. As far as the product itself, it burned when I used it with Urban Decay’s Original Primer Potion. I also tried it with Maybelline’s Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer, and set my eyes with It cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Translucent Powder. No burning occurred when I did that. In each case, it took more than 5 minutes for the product to dry on my lids. Not a big deal, as long as you’re not in a hurry. The glitter does transfer to your cheeks. Minimal amount, but still. It’s hard to get glitter off when your makeup look is complete. Even Desi had trouble in her tutorial getting it off her face. I do my eyes first, then my face so that no fallout or transfer occurs. It just happens that this glitter does transfer. If you’re older and wanting to use glitter, I would highly recommend Glitter Realm. It’s not chunky, and it’s easy to work with, with no transfer issues. It’s also vegan and cruelty free.

Not at all crazy about the Shimmering Skin Perfector

I have the full size product in Moonstone, and it does do a decent job if you want to mix it in with your liquid foundation, but as a highlighter, I cannot get it to work the way it should. Opal is pretty similar in color as Moonstone. I'm just not in love with it. I gave an extra star because I do believe the powder formula is nice on its own. I like a more creamy consistency to a highlighter, and then I put the powder over it before it dries, to give the highlight an extra pop. The liquid product does nothing for me, and really I'm way past the stage of an all over highlight, so I no longer mix it in with my foundation.
