Beauty Product Reviews
Great for experimenting
I just got this palette maybe a week ago. I was really excited because come on. Look at it. All that eyeshadow! It is pretty pigmented when it comes to some colors and not so much when it comes to others. It's definitely great for 'theme make up'. When you need that weird color just this once. It's great for doing a smokey eye, because of different hues of the same color. Awesome when you want to do something dark or light. For the price, I don't think it could be much better.
No. Just no.
I got this in the travel size. I live in a very humid, hot area. We need frizz control down here! I was shopping with my mom and picked this up, hoping I finally found a product that would work. I didn't. I bought this and the shampoo. It made my hair feel terrible! It knotted my hair so bad and didn't even defrizz it. I used it a few more times just to see if maybe my hair was acting strange. No, it wasn't. I put it in the cabinet and locked it away. A few months later I ended up moving. I packed this up and went along my way. I couldn't find my normal shampoo and conditioner and thought to myself 'hey, something is better than nothing.' broke this out and washed up. Worst mistake ever! I threw it away. Do not waste your money on this because you'll end up wasting time trying to brush your hair afterwards. It seriously made my hair feel like I had just bleached it.
Starts out fantastic, ends up... Not.
Let me just say I love the GHD's performance. It straightens and curls my hair wonderfully. My fine hair actually holds curls using this tool. I got my first one as a Christmas present in 2009. Sadly, my dog chewed the cord the following thanksgiving and I was desolate. I went back to using my Cricket and thought, 'Hmm, why'd I even need that old GHD anyway?' well by April, I decided I needed one. I bought my second GHD in April of 2011. By Christmas, I developed a short in the connection between the cord and the actually straight iron. I still had my warranty info and my tool was registered. I called GHD only to find out that since I didn't have my original sales receipt, I was basically out of luck. These things cost a pretty penny and it's hard to justify to myself spending $200 or more on a straight iron for the 3rd time in 2 years. So for now, I am a master at setting my iron in just the right way for it to warm up. So I guess I love the iron, but am disappointed in the company.
Eh they're okay.
Alright, this are pretty basic. Usually you'll get decent elastics that do what they're supposed to. But then you'll get those random ones and go all boa constrictor and try to hold on and never let go of your hair. Lately, I've been getting a lot of them that eventually, the elastic starts showing. It gets stuck in my hair and that is definitely not 'ouchless' when getting it out. It feels like using a rubber band in my hair. Then you'll get the super stretchy ones that look good. You out it in your hair and think 'gee, I sure can wrap this around my hair a lot.' then fifteen minutes later, your hair is EVERYWHERE. So, that being said, I kind of view this product like a bad relationship. So amazing when it's good that you wonder how you could ever hate it, and so terrible when it's bad that you wonder how you could ever love it,
Auss-um
I hate conditioner. I just do. It weighs down my hair and I cannot put any other product in my hair when I use it. So I stopped using it, for about 3 months I only washed my hair. It was terrible and felt really bad, but hey, once it was dry I could do what I wanted. Then winter came and my hair got dry and static-y and I knew I had to do something. I decided a deep conditioner might do the job without having to do it often. I was right. I fell in love with scent and thought 'heck, even if it doesn't do what I expect I'll use it just to make my hair smells this good.' so I washed my hair, put it in, shaved my legs and rinsed it out, then I rinsed with cold water. Holy cow! My hair looks, smells and feels great! I called my mom to rave about it and found out she had to use it on me when I was little. I love it.
My one and only
I am not a dry shampoo person, I am a Batiste person. I cannot sing the praises of this product enough. I have a lot of long hair that will get oil after two days. Everyone knows washing your hair often is bad for it, but who can stand having nasty, greasy, stringy hair? Not me, that's for sure. I got curious about dry shampoo and wanted a cheap test product. I went to my local grocery store and lo and behold, this was the first one I saw it. To be honest, the can is pink and anything pink catches my eye. well I bought it, went home, waited until my hair got gross and spray this on. It comes in an aerosol can, so it doesn't get everywhere like some of the powders do. It also smells pretty good. The directions are to spray into hair, massage it in and brush out. I brush my hair, spray it in and put my hair up. I do my make up and let it soak up all the bad stuff. Then I brush my hair, usually I brush it back to get all the white out and boom. Clean hair. It even gives my hair volume, which anyone with long hair that straightens it knows is pretty much impossible after you reach your maximum amount of oiliness. I actually look forward to using this product because it dirties my hair enough that I can do stuff to it and it'll hold without my hair looking greasy. The only few downsides to Batiste is that my hair doesn't really look shiny when I use this and that if I push it, say by going 4 or more days without a washing, my hair will look droopy by the end of the day, but really, that's my fault for going so many days without washing my hair. I'm trying to make my hair healthier and was told washing it less often would help. This product definitely makes that much easier. And another plus, it cots under $5. I bought it once, got afraid that they wouldn't have it anymore, so I went back and bought 2 cans of it. I cannot say enough.
