DOES WHAT IT SAYS!
I, like most others, have become tired of the "HD MICRO POWDER" rat-race as of the past year or so, because to be honest, the process is just getting old: each brand promises their product won't look white or chalky, will minimize pores, and boasts talc-free formulas. They all look the same, even brands like MUFE and Laura Mercier: they chalk up, show up horribly in flash, and come with a less-than-reasonable price tag.
That's where IT Cosmetics comes in.
This formula does exactly what it says, and then some. Non-irritating, and EFFECTIVE. This powder is like putting on a pore-targeted primer AND powder all in one step. Feels great, wears naturally, and does a fabulous job of masking my otherwise noticeable pores. I feel like SUPERMAN with this on!
CUTEST GIFT EVER!
I was browsing BL at work (always a dedicated task) and my co-worker saw this while I was scrolling through, so I thought to just get it for her since the holidays are coming up! SHE LOVED IT! Good for gifting anyone who loves the trinket vibe, or as a cute knick-knack on your vanity!
FINALLY, A REVIEW!
I have been looking at this brush since it came out on BL and other websites, and it was killing me that I couldn't find ONE review on it, so I actually went out on a bit of a limb and bought it sight-unseen. It's a wonderful brush - soft, so so soft with just a touch of density. I know it seems like a lot to spend on a brush but really, let's be honest -- it does its job (and a few others) flawlessly, it's insanely gorgeous to look at, and it'll last forever and a day. What more could you ask for?
A DRAG QUEEN'S BEST FRIEND!
I grabbed Porcelain from RCMA to try as a highlight. I've been using Dermacolor 0070 (WHITE WHITE WHITE) but I find it blends out in a slightly patchy fashion, requiring more layers to fully even out and create the dimensions I desire. RCMA does not do this at all. I warm up the product, either in the pan or on a spatula/back of hand and apply with a concealer brush to any areas I am bringing light into (forehead, high-cheek, nose, a million other places) and it applies like an absolute dream. When you blend it, either with a brush or a beautyblender, I find that it doesn't absorb into tools easily so you really get to USE the product you pick up, without having to reapply. Ultimately, I am in love and I'm going to buy my skintone (Gena Beige) and maybe even a contour color, even though I use OCC Creme Color Concentrates (John Doe for a cool-tone or Trick for a warmer contour), I REALLY love the consistency of this product. I can't believe I went so long without trying this.
Why is there BHT in this?
I'm not going to give this less than five stars because I haven't tried it but I feel that it's important to note that for some reason there is BHT in the ingredients list -- WHAT? I have never seen BHT in makeup, ever. The loose version of this powder does NOT contain BHT and is beautiful so I would recommend that one instead. Just a not!
Mousse-like, color-rich formula - not for me, but still great!
For the type of makeup I do (heavy/stage/drag) this texture is a foreign and unwelcome concept. I like my creams with some GRAB! This has none of that. The formula is feather-weight, high-impact color that seems to glide effortlessly, leaving a cool, moist lovely sensation on whichever area you apply it to. Seriously, the feeling is ridiculously nice. Even though I don't like it, I can fully recognize that this is a star-quality product with amazing pigmentation; it just isn't the product for me. If you like more mousse-y, light and airy textures, this is the one for you!
Unlike any I have tried before!
If you are looking for a conventional BB texture, that slightly greasy, foundation-y feeling goop, this is not for you. I would liken this texture to that of a slightly more creamy version of a paint pot from MAC. Dries with a similar, mattfying powder-set texture, but with a cooling, hydrating, featherweight wear and feel. Good for mixing with other thicker formulas to acheive more maneuverability. Great for everyday wear; easily blended with brush, sponge, or finger - it really is up to you!
Eat, sleep, breathe Embryolisse!
Embryolisse hooked me first with Emulsion Hydra Mat, which by the way, if you have combination oily skin with dry patches, USE HYDRA MAT! It's like your face's great equalizer. Anyway, I was running low on my Hydra-Mat (less than half is emergency status when it comes to primer) so considering that I am burning through it slightly quickly for the price ($40 for 40ml is HEF-TEE but it's worth it) I decided to see if I could dilute my Hydra-Mat to make it last a little longer and it worked! Super versatile, very effective. Give it a try!
No mess, no stress!
I have used everything you can think of to adhere glue to my face - hairspray, makeup setting spray, liquid latex, other companies' forms of glitter adhesive - This product is the easiest to work with, and offers the most rewarding payoff - non-irritating, effective coverage that is as easy to remove as it is to put on! Thanks for throwing all us glitter gals out there a bone!
My pencils are happy again!
First off, if you're feeling too cheap to spend between 5 and 10 dollars for a pencil sharpener, use Clinique's - It's good (not great) and very inexpensive with two barrels at 3 bucks. I just finished using that one and while I love it, I was excited to try something that perhaps did the job just a tad better, and I feel I have truly found it in the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Pencil Sharpener. Two turns, and your pencils are sharp (not destroyed!) and you can move on with your beauty routine. Kevyn knows how to simple elegance!
