beware contact lens wearers!!
This is an excellent waterproof liner for those of you out there gifted with perfect eyesight (or who prefer to wear glasses). It really is smudge proof, the color Damsel is a lovely dark brown, and it applies smoothly with minimal tugging.
However: for those who wear contacts, this eyeliner is sadly not a good option for you (unless you’re comfortable with hazy blurry vision in one or both eyes). I went through six pairs of contacts (in two days!) before realizing that the constantly appearing cloudy smudge on my contact lenses was the result of this eyeliner. It doesn’t come off with cleaning, soaking or rubbing the lens - the smudge is there to stay, just as it is on your eyelid. I do tightline my upper waterline so it’s possible that keeping the liner on your lid/upper lash line only will keep your contacts safe, but consider carefully before buying!! Attached is a photo of a lens that I wore today for a few hours.
DANGEROUS for contact lens wearers
This says it's safe for contact lens wearers but not for me. This eyeliner left waxy residue that quickly spread over my contact lens, leaving me essentially blind. Thankfully my contacts are disposable but this was one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever had while wearing makeup because it happened when I was driving. Do not recommend!!!!
Great but not what I was looking for
It has great pigment and it stays on all day without smudging. I’ve got relatively oily lids (waterproof mascaras often transfer a bit to my eyelids). However, this stayed on all day without budging. However, it was not what I was looking for. I like to draw the thinnest lines for eyeliner and this won’t allow me to draw as thin as I’d like. The photos online just looked like it would draw thinner lines than it does in real life. Great for general eyeliner purposes, though.
The Best!
If you love eyeliner and use it daily this is the best thing to happen to your eyes. There are so many colors to choose from. I love "Lionfish" it has gold flex in it and it brightens my brown eyes.
I love using this liner to tight-line my eyes. This liner dries quickly but within the first few minutes of application you are able to smudge it as the title states. I will take a angled brush to smudge out my liner or to create a smoky wing. This liner never runs or bleeds, and It stays put. Worth the buy!
Average. Budges on my water line.
Still haven't found my perfect liner for the water line because this one doesn't last any longer than my other liners. It does budge on my water line. Just as long wearing as liner on my lid as my other more affordable liners.
Still, all of this makes this liner not bad, just average. Precision, pigment, handling and so on is average. You could get this quality for less money and that's what I'm going to do when I run out of this one. (And maybe find my perfect liner? Pretty please?)
Good product minus the packaging
Liked the product - highly pigmented, application is smooth and easy, and it stays superbly looooong. However the packaging is kind of cheap and tacky. Once you take out some length of the product, you can never take it back. The cover is terribly fragile - you can have little cracks if you push it even just a little too hard onto the smudge stick. I was very very cautious and careful at first until I dropped it and got the cover cracked anyway (on both tips - boo!). This thing is quite pricey for a pencil eyeliner, hope Stila can somehow upgrade the packaging. One cannot perform a quick makeup with fragile products such as these.
E! Live From the Red Carpet set
I picked up two liners in the E! Live From the Red Carpet set: "Oscar Fish" (brown) and "Stargazer" (black). They’re very soft pencil liners, and swatched super smoothly. I really wish that Oscar Fish’s color out more on my waterline though. I feel like I have to really struggle to get the color on there, which is a shame because its what I wear everyday. Maybe if it were a darker shade of brown? I did have the same issue with another brown eyeliner I use (Revlon Colorstay) but over time the color started to go on really easily, so maybe it just takes time. Stargazer, however, goes on nice and dark! Both these liners have just a little bit of shimmer in them, but its not very noticible once its on.
